September Horoscope for Aries For most of us, the dawning of September harks back to days we would be excited about going back to school. We get new clothes and shoes, pencils and notebooks, and look forward to reconnecting with our friends again. In some ways, not too much has changed! The weather is often crystal clear and bright, not as hot, and that seems to promote clearer thinking. This year you seem especially eager to get back to work, for the new moon on September 8 will be in industrious Virgo. You'll want to dig into new projects or hire some new personnel at the office or someone to help you at home, such as a nanny or housekeeper. This new moon seems to be saying, "Get going! There's so much to do!" but at the same time, Mercury will be shouting just as loudly, "No, stop, I'm retrograde! Anything you start now will be flawed. Wait!" What should you do? Wait, just a little. You will need only to delay your major actions until September 13, and if you give that date a day or two, you can start to initiate actions, confident that Mercury will not be in a messy state again until December. (Yes, just in time to mess up our best-laid plans - the whole month won't be good, so plan ahead!) This time Mercury has been retrograde since August 20, but you felt things slide backward as early as the start of August. It's understandable if you are feeling a bit impatient, but if you do go slowly and methodically, and pay close attention to all the details, your efforts will pay off. This all shows that the first half of September will bring a slow start, and you may be fine with that pace. You will have the time to get organized and the time to deliberate about your work strategy for the coming months. If you are among the many who are not currently employed but wish you were, this new moon will help you get side work, if you like, to keep you going until the big job comes knocking. If you are holding out for a big position, it may help you to know that December will bring lots of developments. (Yes, even though Mercury will be retrograde, the offers may stem from old bosses or colleagues.) Even more activity will be stirred up in your career at the new moon solar eclipse on January 4. For now, however, you may want to take freelance work. Everything will come in due time. A news story I heard recently reported approximately 10 percent of workers take freelance work to supplement their regular income and nearly 27 percent said they would take on a second job in the coming months. If you are thinking of doing the same thing, apparently you are not alone. This is not to say that holding two jobs is easy - it is not. Usually it is a decision made from a practical standpoint amid a difficult economy. I was thinking about your chart yesterday, dear Aries, and I was coming to the conclusion that if you did want to get a second extra side job, it might be wise to do so in mid-to-late September before other applicants begin to apply for those side jobs. You do have the perfect new moon September 8 to bring you the freelance work you want. (As mentioned earlier, send your resume from September 13 onward, not before.) While it is true that this new moon will be more about little projects than big ones, there are lots of reasons to be optimistic. Pluto will move to direct speed on September 14 and that is news. In case you are saying to yourself, "I am not sure that anything Pluto does matters to me," let me assure you it does. This could be the key planet to your professional growth, for Pluto is situated at the very pinnacle point of your chart, up near where the "12" would be on a clock's face, in your house of fame and honors. Pluto introduces another element here and gives you a solid chance to shoot for the top prize. Pluto has been retrograde in your tenth house of honors, awards, achievement, and fame since April 6 of this year, so it probably was hard to make substantial career progress since then. If you have found yourself stuck or unable to figure out which direction to go professionally, it would be understandable. Now, all that changes and you will find choosing a career path far easier, and the positions you hear about will have real status - something you want. Now let's turn to Mars, your ruling planet, for his position in your chart is always an indication of where your attention will be drawn. Since the year began back in January, other people you know, personally and professionally, have had a strong influence on the direction the key events in your life have taken. This month will be no exception - in fact, one person in particular seems to be set to play a very large role either in a helpful, supportive way, or in a way that dares you to come up with a strong response. This could be your mate or steady date, or it could be a collaborator or expert you've hired or even a competitor who seems to have become very active and is forcing you to respond to certain challenges. (The competitor could be an individual or a whole company that competes with yours). As an Aries, you're always up for a dare or contest of wills, so this news shouldn't faze you - in fact, it probably energizes you. In the first half, from September 1 to 13, Mars will be in Libra and so those collaborations of all kinds that I just mentioned will be very pronounced. Mars will be in Scorpio later, from September 14 until October 28, and will tour your house of credit, loans, scholarships, court settlements, taxes, severance and unemployment insurance, child support, and other side income, so your mind will be on one of these matters. Usually having Mars in the eighth house as you will have forces up expenses or could cause arguments, say, over a commission or a divorce settlement. That may not happen because you also have Mars traveling close to Venus, so it appears you can find ways to bring in some substantial sums. Venus is generous, and her presence is a very upbeat vibration. I also like that Mars will be beautifully angled to Pluto in what is considered an opportunity aspect. It will be up to you to find a way to make money from this aspect and to find good compromises if negotiating, but the point is, this month, you can! If you find that you need to negotiate a new position, you may do very well with company benefits. In fact, those may be the juicy side of the deal, so if you are not entirely happy with the salary being offered, you may make up for that shortfall by negotiating great health insurance, vacation days, pension plan, and other perks. If you really don't like the salary at all (and it is not even close to what you hoped to get) but do like the work and job description, negotiate a workweek comprised of three or four days for the same salary the company named. You will be able to complete everything in that time (or you may offer to stay late those days), and be able to earn money from other sources on the days you have off. Or, you may save in childcare expenses with a shorter week. Many companies allow that now, and this arrangement may suit you. In the first week of September 7 or close to this date, Saturn will hit a degree that will form a 90-degree angle to the mathematical degree of the eclipse of June 26. This is an important point and may bring up sudden news involving your career or a residential or family matter that will need instant your quick attention - be prepared just in case. Your partner may bring news on this important day, too. Give this a plus or minus four days, just in case. You may have already dealt with this issue (whatever comes up), but with eclipses, you never know. Just keep your antenna up. I can't tell you what kind of news it would be, positive or not, as I can't see your whole chart, but if you were born near March 28, you will more likely hear something. This would be a great month to pay more attention to your heath. This will be the perfect month to get back to exercise and to design a fitness routine for yourself. The new moon in Virgo is the ideal new moon of the year to do this and in a matter of weeks, you'll be looking and feeling great. Don't wait until January to institute your fitness resolutions - do it now, when you have powerful cosmic support. You might want to treat yourself to ten training sessions or pick up some new workout gear. Whatever brings enthusiasm is to be embraced. I know my motivator may sound strange to some, but I get excited about having a different magazine and a newspaper to read on the elliptical machine for an hour at dawn each day. (I also do different classes afterward). Knowing I will have something new to read each day always gets me going in the morning, and I never allow myself to read magazines at home - that has to be my gym treat. This simple habit has me going to the gym two hours every day, seven days a week, and it is always fun! The sixth house rules all the steps you take to bolster your health and prevent problems, so because you have this new moon, schedule dental appointments, blood pressure and cholesterol checks, eye exams, a hearing test - whatever is on your list. Some people like to have a little dog to walk to keep them fit, and if this describes you, you can choose a little furry creature this month, as a new moon in the sixth house is the ideal time to add a pet to your household. Just do so after September 14. The full moon, September 23, falling at 0 degrees Aries, is complicated, for it comes with some of the sweetest and most affirming aspects possible, and some of the hardest, rolled into one. Anytime you see zero degrees mentioned, it's important to take notice, because that instantly translates into "this is forceful" because zero is considered a super-energetic degree. In fact, it's so important that astrologers have a name for it, "the Aries point," which is akin to the life force. We don't name many degrees in astrology, so you can be sure that when we do, it's worth watching for it will have clout. Something is coming to a final stage that is very, very important to you. On one hand, we have Jupiter, the giver of gifts and luck, very close, within two degrees, which is FANTASTIC. Uranus is there too, which will bring an element of surprise. However, and here is where I drop the other shoe, Saturn will oppose the full moon and by September 30 conjunct the Sun. This tells me that you MIGHT have problems with a romantic relationship or a creative project, or be concerned about one of your children. (Not all these areas would light up, but just one.) The Sun is the natural ruler of your fifth house, which is why you would need to watch all three areas. This full moon will affect you if you were born at the end of March, near March 21 plus or minus five days. It could also affect you if you have planets in Aries at 0 to 6 degrees. You might not know if you have planets positioned there, so if you don't have your chart you can get a full explanation at my other website, http://www.MyPersonalHoroscope.com, or just simply wait to see what happens. Pluto will also be applying pressure from your tenth house of career, so you may feel some heat from a VIP, or you may be in a career interview situation where you find a pressing need to step up your game. If the latter is the case, you can do it, dear Aries. Remember, however, you will have Jupiter very close to support you like a big bodyguard, no small advantage. Romantically, your best period will be while Jupiter remains in Aries, from September 1 through 8. On September 9, Jupiter will head back to Pisces, and you will have to wait patiently until January 22, 2011, until Jupiter will be back to your sign again. Having Jupiter in Aries is the single best aspect you could have to find the perfect true love. From June through August, and continuing in that first week of September, you've had Jupiter in Aries, but it helped mainly March-born Aries. If you didn't feel your luck was bright enough, you will like early 2011, for Jupiter will touch every single degree of Aries from 0 to 29 degrees (that's the full deck) before moving into Taurus in early June 2011. However, as said, your love life could prove tricky to navigate near the full moon, September 23. Love could prove volatile and unstable, so keep your antenna up and don't bring up any touchy subjects. The conjunction of the Sun and Saturn on September 30 isn't my favorite day either - it's likely to be a hard work kind of day, not one suitable for lightness and fun. However, if you make a promise to your significant other on this day, you can be sure that promise will be one that lasts forever! My favorite days for you include September 4, when you may be invited to a glamorous night out, thanks to the mix of Venus and Neptune, or September 18, my favorite day of the month, when Jupiter and Uranus will create the perfect setting for a fun introduction or blind date. All romantic days include: September 1, 2, 4-6, 14, 18-19, and 28-29. Summary The new moon September 8 will bring in new assignments at work, but indications are that things will be a bit chaotic at first. Until September 12, Mercury will be retrograde. On September 7 Saturn will reach a mathematical degree that will trigger a point related to the lunar eclipse of last June 26. Watch for news related to your career, or possibly related to a residential or partnership matter. With crosscurrents confusing, make sure you hear what is being said and not what you assume you are being told. Since last month, Uranus has moved back in Pisces, and by September 21, will oppose the Sun, creating upsets to existing plans and relationships. Be flexible when your boss or client asks you to completely redo the assignment. If you are at a dead-end job or simply don't like the work, you may feel an overwhelming need to leave at any cost, and probably will if you haven't done so already. These tough aspects are nearly forcing you to make up your mind - go with it! You may experience a rollercoaster of emotions in love too, but only in the month's second half, near September 21 when Uranus taunts the Sun and again on or near September 30 when Saturn will conjunct the Sun. Try to stay calm. It may help to view your life as if it were a movie - ask what your heroine will do next. You will get to write those very lines of the next chapter of your life story. Mars, your guardian planet, will still be in Libra until September 14. If you are attached, your partner will be leading the way, for the two of you and will be busy setting the tone and direction of your relationship. Perhaps you have been happy to follow your partner's lead. Conversely, you may feel you've been struggling to gain control. Mars is capable of generating tension, so if a grudge has been festering between you under the surface, it may come out full force now. Still, you may be relieved to finally clear the air. Be philosophical and take the long view. Venus is traveling close to Mars, which is a remarkable coincidence, for Venus will work to smooth the waters. Her job is to spark the spark of love, so Venus will do almost anything to keep harmony. Once Mars leaves Libra on September 14, your close relationships will become easier to navigate, but money might still be a touchy subject for you. Fortunately, Pluto, a key financial planet, will turn direct on September 14, too. From then on, you'll know where you stand financially and will be able to make new or revised agreements if necessary. Pluto is in your career sector, so you may finally decide on an important career direction after literally months of waffling on this subject. (It was not your fault - Pluto was retrograde since April, so ever since, you would have not been able to make much progress. As you see, if you didn't choose a new position, it may have been just as well. I would like to see you making big career decisions with Pluto strong in your tenth house of honors and achievement. It will be from September 13, 2010 to April 9, 2011. If you did make a big career decision since last April (such as to take a new job, create a new business, or change the line of work you do), you may see a significant change or piece of news come up about your career right around the time Pluto goes direct September 14. Whenever a major planet changd take on a second job in the coming months. If you are thinking of doing the same thing, apparently you are not alone. This is not to say that holding two jobs is easy - it is not. Usually it is a decision made from a practical standpoint amid a difficult economy.
