产出&梦境｜在嗑基努和瑞凡💧

看完《我自己的爱达荷》大概有两个月了，嗑得昏天黑地，日常泪洒太平洋🥺

把我嗑的整理了一下，或许有人也嗑嘛…

River和Keanu正式认识是因为同时拍I Love You To Death（《我真的爱死你》），之前Keanu和华金、River当时的女友玛莎·普林顿一起拍Parenthood（《温馨家族》），所以两个人在片场见过，但还不算熟。拍I Love You To Death的时候熟了起来，并且同时收到了My Own Private Idaho的剧本。MOPI的导演兼编剧Gus Van Sant说找他们两个的原因是“爱达荷是一个从山上坠落的男孩和一个街道上的男孩的故事。从Keanu的性格里我看一点山的部分，从River身上看到一点街道的部分。他们扮演的角色都是他们自己的延伸。”

"Idaho is the story of a rich boy who falls off the hill and a kid on the street, " says it's writer-director, Gus Van Sant. " I saw a bit of the hill in Keanu's personality and a bit of the street in River's. They played off those extensions of themselves. "

这个采访里聊了很多东西，提到当时决定一起演MOPI：“我们在圣莫尼卡大道上开车，可能在去俱乐部的路上，很快地讨论了整个想法。我们都很兴奋，这本来会像一个噩梦——一个永远不会实现的梦，因为没有人去做，但是我们推动自己去做了。我们说，好的，如果你演我就演，你不演我也不演。于是我们握了手。就是这样。”

River Phoenix: We were driving in a car on Santa Monica Boulevard, probably on the way to a club, and were talking really fast about the whole idea. We were excited. It could have been like bad dream -- a dream that never follows through because no one commits, but we just forced ourselves into it. We said, " O.K., I'll do it if you do it. I won't do it if you don't. " We shook hands. That was it.

1992年Keanu和River的一个采访里有几段对话非常可爱和sweet。

River: That's really sweet, Keany.

QUESTION: How long do you think your careers will last?

River: My career will last forever. What do you think?

Keanu: My career will last as long as I get parts in films.

QUESTION: And then what?

Keanu: And then you die.

River: Then it's time for the old folks home. I don't know what I'm going to do when I get older, do you, Keany?

KEANU: I'd like to maybe get a boat some day and sail around. Maybe I'll settle down and raise a family. I've always wanted kids.

River: I didn't know that.

Keanu: You never asked, dude.

River: I really want kids too, but it takes money these days to raise them right and give them a good home.

Keanu: You can say that again.

1992年Keanu在英国拍电影时有个采访，说：“River是最好的，他是个好人，他是king。我朝拜凤凰河教。

River's the best, he's the god man, he's a king. I pray to the church of River Phoenix.

活泼小熊

1993年River去世，Keanu当时正在拍《生死时速》，1994年《生死时速》上映，票房很好，Keanu大火，所以这段时间对他的采访很多，而几乎每个采访者都会隐晦（甚至直接）地提到River的去世。（有些采访者被我心理骂一万遍了）Keanu对此的回答几乎都是I miss him very much/every day/greatly/a lot.

1993年12月的一个采访，记者问他新生代的演员中和谁玩得来，Keanu说我们不一起玩，我唯一的朋友只有River…记者问像River，还有玛丽莲梦露、詹姆斯迪恩这些明星能避免悲剧吗？Keanu说：你要忘记的是他们悲剧性的死亡，记住他们是有超出常人天赋的、伟大的演员，他们在天堂、在银幕上发光……那么美丽，那么情感丰富，那么悲伤……如果人们感到自己离他们很近，是因为这些明星都是出色的演员，他们的离去更让人感到痛苦、失落。这是悲剧。但是我也认为，我相信因为他们，演员诞生并且继续诞生……

Keanu Reeves: You have to forget their tragic death and remember that they were great actors, exceptional talents, who shone in heaven, on screen... So much beauty, so much emotion, so much sorrow... If people felt close to them, it's because these stars were magnificent actors and their passing is all the more painful, frustrating. That's the tragedy. But I also think, and I'd like to believe, that thanks to them, actors are born and will continue to be born...

之后聊了一会怎么认识River的和MOPI，记者说火堆边的那场戏非常棒，Keanu沉默很久，说：River是一个非凡的人，很好的人……我的朱丽叶去哪儿了？（之前River说如果他们一起演《罗密欧和朱丽叶》他来演朱丽叶）又在胡说，草。（又沉默了很长时间）他真的是一个很好的人。

Keanu Reeves: ... (long silence) River was an exceptional person, incredible... Where is my Juliet? Bullshit, Fuck! (Another long silence) He was a really good guy.

1994年有个采访里Keanu说到过一点River的死亡：“不能把发生的事全怪好莱坞。River有他自己的问题。他有黑暗的、自我毁灭的一面。他对成名后不能有私人生活感到很生气、痛苦。我知道我需要很长的时间才能不为他悲伤。”

"You can't blame Hollywood for what happened. River had his own very personal problems. He had a dark, destructive side. He was angry and hurt that he couldn't have a private life once he became famous. 在后来很长的时间里，Keanu和River的家人、其他朋友很少在公开场合谈过他。2013年多伦多电影节举办了一个Keanu的电影回顾展（回顾展名称是"Whoa. The Films of Keanu Reeves"，因为Keanu在很多电影里的角色都喜欢说Whoa），回顾展一共放映11部Keanu主演的电影，其中有MOPI。Keanu为MOPI录了一支推荐视频，聊到River：

I can' t talk about My Own Private Idaho without talking about River. Extraordinary person. Extraordinary, original, great heart, great mind and great spirit…And so, to get the chance to play with him, to be a partner with him, in this world that Gus Van put together…just really great togetherness, a great energy, a great exploration…at the core of this, at the centre of this, was River.

还回忆了他们在意大利拍摄时期的事，最后，Keanu说Enjoy the Movie，很快又改口说Enjoy the film. That's a film. That's not a movie.

2019年Keanu为GQ录的一个专访视频里展示了他喜爱的各种摩托车，聊到他在电影里骑摩托的场景，回忆了拍摄MOPI时和River骑摩托的一天。

同年的一个访谈中，Keanu和记者聊到John Wick的悲伤（当时是JW3宣传期），说他喜欢John的悲伤，认为“不管是对角色还是对生活来说，这种悲伤是你对哀悼的那个人的爱，任何时候你都可以和那团火相伴，它是温暖的。我完全认同这一点，并且认为永远没法克服它。悲伤和失去，这些东西永远不会消散。它们一直伴随你。”

"Oh yeah, I thought it was one of the foundations of the role for John Wick. I love his grief," he says, visibly perking up at the subject.

What is it about grief that interests him? "Well, for the character and in life, it' s about the love of the person you' re grieving for, and any time you can keep company with that fire, it is warm. I absolutely relate to that, and I don' t think you ever work through it. Grief and loss, those are things that don' t ever go away. They stay with you."

访谈中还聊到过往职业生涯，提到MOPI和River：“River绝对是那个时代我最亲密的朋友。我们有共同的艺术感受力。River是一个非常谦逊、高尚、独一无二的艺术家。是的，我想他。”

（River）definitely my closest friends from that era. We shared an artistic sensibility. River was just so down to earth, spiritual and a unique artist. Yeah, I miss him.

2018年10月，River的妹妹、也是River的乐队Aleka' s Attic的成员Rain Phoenix开始回看当年乐队巡回演唱的视频、照片，于是无法停止创作音乐，Rain觉得这些都是River给她的能量。2019年10月31日Rain发行了专辑《River》。

And then I just couldn' t stop making music. My collaborator, Kirk Hellie, and I just kept writing. I feel like it' s all been River energy, this whole process. It became so important to me that I recognize and say his name. So I called it River and after that, it was even more easy.

Meeting River was a revelation. As a person and an artist. His generous heart and shining spirit along with an intelligence, curiosity, wit and humor inspired. He seemed to hold the sadness and what was wrong in a worldly or beyond worldly way and just wanted to make it better, actively make it better. Whether it was in a conversation, a song, the character' s he played, the stories he told, his friendship, his family, his activism, his love. He was there. He tried. He was trying. A beautiful exceptional soul. Light.

2020年8月23日，Rain发行了两首Aleka' s Attic未曾公开的曲目"Alone U Elope"和"2×4"，纪念River50岁生日。黑胶唱片的封面是Michael Stipe拍摄的River。在一次公路旅行的途中，由于天气太热，Stipe等就给River编小辫子，用胶带来固定。

The vinyl’s cover features an image of Phoenix and his messily braided hair, a photograph taken by River’s close friend Michael Stipe, the result of a road trip they took to Georgia. Driving from Nashville to Athens along with Rain and friends to see Natalie Merchant play, Stipe remembers that it was hot, and River’s long hair was hanging all around his face, so they braided it using pieces of masking tape. When they finally reached Athens, Stipe called artist Jeremey Ayers over to his house to give River a haircut in the backyard. The end result was a bowl cut.
