This house belongs to the troglodytes (cave dwelling) of the Shaanbei area (China, Shaanxi province). The film gradually displays the traditional “Yaodong Culture” of today though the master’s mason, the master’s carpenter, the geomancers and inhabitants. We see the daily lives of people in the Yaodong and every detail of the construction. The film describes a vivid picture of the current cave dwelling culture sites. This documentary is in collaboration with the writings of a French researcher in ethnology who has been observing this Shaanbei craft for the past 17 years. Presentation of the crew： Writer/Director: Elodie Brosseau graduated from the Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations of Paris in 1997. After many years of working in production in the different media, features and museum (Cite de l’Achitecutre et du Patrimoine in Paris) and teaching Chinese language. She began to film documentaries after a directing training in the documentary, “Ateliers Varan” in Paris, whose cinema directing style belongs to filmmaker, Jean Rouch filmmaker. Scientific adviser: Caroline Bodolec, is a Science Associate Professor, doing scientific research at the France National Institute, Centre for modern Chinese studies. She is also a Social Sciences researcher, at the School for Advanced Studies. She has been in northern Shaanxi Province for the past 17 years, observing the developments of the cave and published many works about it. Editor: Helene Attali is a graduade from the University of Cinema of Paris. She has 20 years of experience in editing and has worked on many different international documentaries and feature films
