Cancer and Scorpio are magnetic and everything should come up like roses no matter what mess they have on their hands. While Mars is conjunct Neptune Gemini, Virgo, and Sagittarius are extra sensitive and better pass on the sushi and sake for now. Also on February 1, Venus moves into Aquarius until February 25. While Venus moves through Aquarius our attitudes about love and relationships are somewhat unconventional. Aquarius’ detachment will be so attractive while Libra and Gemini are looking good under any light. Aquarius’ fellow fixed signs Taurus, Leo, and Scorpio must avoid unattractive behavior. By February 6 Venus is sextile (60 degrees) Uranus and trine (120 degrees) Jupiter on the February 8. This combination is exciting and the gestures are grand but don’t put your money on anything permanent. By the February 11 Venus is square (90 degrees) Saturn and Saturn has blown out the candles of any romance in lieu of stark reality and responsibilities that must be met. Venus passes halfway between the nodes of the Moon February 15 - 22. Venus and the nodes make it hard to maintain relationships. A lot of loyalty and some good hugs can go along way during those days as many of us feel shaken by sudden surprises that make us realize why sometimes we don’t like surprises. Once Venus moves into Pisces February 25 – March 21 we feel calmer and more compassionate with a lot less renegade behavior where relationships are concerned. Peace and quiet will take a few days to come about because just as Venus is moving into Pisces, the full Moon in Virgo occurs February 26 at 2:26pm CST at 7 degrees Virgo. A full Moon brings past actions to a head and since this full Moon is square Jupiter in Gemini, results can be exaggerated towards the positive. Details are sure to be skewed. Those of us born in the early days of Virgo, Gemini, Pisces, and Sagittarius will feel the affects of this emotional charge most likely with a smile on their face. Might be a good time to buy a lotto ticket. This month marks the first Mercury retrograde period for 2013 February 23 – March 17. Use the days until then to get projects off the ground. The standard for Mercury retrograde is to redo, redesign and refine. Once Mercury goes retrograde we must concentrate on finishing the stuff we have previously begun while holding off on the new stuff until after Mercury goes direct. Mercury turns retrograde at nineteen degrees Pisces and ending up at five degrees Pisces. Pisces and Mercury ruled signs Gemini and Virgo are most affected but if those are not your signs don’t think Mercury wouldn’t be waiting in the bushes planning a trick to see if you are paying attention. This retrograde in Pisces is a great time to rethink creative endeavors. Bad habits may pop up just to see if you are done with them once and for all. The best way to deal with Mercury retrograde is to laugh at his tricks and don’t get too upset when he dumps that load of turnips on the interstate in the five o’clock rush hour. Nevertheless, do be sure to back up the computers. Before Mercury goes retrograde, the month starts off with Mercury stirring the pot and playing the devil’s advocate in Aquarius squaring the nodes of the Moon. Once Mercury moves into Pisces February 5 – April 13/14 communications are more thoughtful and less agitating. Subtle influences will be the ways we express and receive our ideas. In some cases confusion will take over because Mercury in Pisces creates confusion. Mercury conjunct Neptune, February 6, is cause for avoiding decisions and signing papers as the facts and the terms are not clear and concise. Mercury and Mars collide in Pisces February 7. Creating conflict among confusion. This is a good time to keep quiet if you are Gemini, Virgo, or Sagittarius. Leo and Libra are uncomfortable at this time and need to loosen the bonds that are binding. Make note that once Mercury goes retrograde he again bumps up against Mars, February 26. Don’t start something you cannot finish, including a quarrel. Mercury and Mars, still close together in Pisces square Jupiter in Gemini (90 degrees) February 9 -10, further confuses issues with facts that seem certain but are not reliable. Some of us will jump to conclusions and act impulsively. At the same time, on February 10 the new Moon occurs in Aquarius at twenty-one degrees at 1:20 am CST. This new Moon is square to the nodes of the Moon now in Scorpio and Taurus. This new Moon will be the beginning of a new expression of what we the people (Aquarius) want collectively and individually. The north node in Scorpio is the people that hold the power. The south node in Taurus is financial security and insecurity. This is a powerful new Moon that is sure to bring us to new beginnings regarding our current and past loyalties. We will be opening our eyes to what we really need to achieve our creative, spiritual, and financial goals. Words and deeds must be appropriate to accomplish revolutionary ideas, however upsets and dissensions will most likely be caustic. It will be our personal tasks to make changes within our individual and collective lives. Yet for the moment events will be cause for consternation. Hang onto the rails around this new Moon, storms and protests are at the horizon as we address changes to our society, economy, and freedom of expression. Two days later on the February 12, Mercury sextile Pluto in Capricorn and trine Saturn in Scorpio is settling us down from days before. There is a light at the end of the tunnel as facts come to light. Mars sextile Pluto and trine Saturn February 15 and 16, respectively, compels us to realize our goals and organize so that we can pursue our objectives. Since the Moon is in Taurus during those days, financial matters are sure to be in our thoughts. The Sun moves into Pisces February 18 – March 20. These final days of winter are preparing us for the advent of spring. This is a time of mustering our creative, humanitarian, sensitive selves so that we can take that to the mat once active spring arrives March 20. Many of us will need time alone, though Pisces, Cancer and Scorpio will be able to move forward with ease in general. While the Sun moves through Pisces, fellow mutables Gemini, Virgo, and Sagittarius must adjust through blocks and uncertainties that pop up in the path. Additionally, on February 18, Saturn in Scorpio goes retrograde until July 7/8. This taskmaster planet moves from 11 degrees back to 4 degrees during this retrograde period. Scorpio, Aquarius, Taurus, and Leo just might feel a bit stuck in what needs to be fixed without the ability to actually make the needed changes. Financial matters of the world will probably be on hold as those who are really in power pull the strings to stall change from behind the scenes. We will all come to terms with what needs to be fixed in our lives over the next several months. We will have the strength to fix those structures but will we have the courage? The Sun crossing Neptune February 21 is a psychic and sensitive time for all of us. Act with compassion if you must take any action. Decisions though, are best left alone until the concrete facts are discovered. The last aspect of February is Venus conjunct Neptune in Pisces on the 28th. The Moon is void all day. This ends this short but eventful month with a great deal of compassion through compromise and a need to be free of restriction.
