世主妙嚴品第一之一 [page55] 01 The Wonderful Adornments of the Leaders of the Worlds 如是我聞：一時，佛在摩竭提國阿蘭若法菩提場中，始成正覺。 THUS HAVE I HEARD. At one time the Buddha was in the land of Magadha, in a state of purity, at the site of enlightenment, having just realized true awareness. 其地堅固，金剛所成；上妙寶輪，及眾寶華、清淨摩尼，以為嚴飾；諸色相海，無邊顯現；摩尼為幢，常放光明，恒出妙音，眾寶羅網，妙香華纓，周匝垂布；摩尼寶王，變現自在，雨無盡寶及眾妙華分散於地；寶樹行列，枝葉光茂。 The ground was solid and firm, made of diamond, adorned with exquisite jewel discs and myriad precious flowers, with pure clear crystals. The ocean of characteristics of the various colors appeared over an infinite extent. There were banners of precious stones, constantly emitting shining light and producing beautiful sounds. Nets of myriads gems and garlands of exquisitely scented flowers hung all around. The finest jewels appeared spontaneously, raining inexhaustible quantities of gems and beautiful flowers all over the earth. There were rows of jewel trees, their branches and foliage lustrous and luxuriant. 佛神力故，令此道場一切莊嚴於中影現。 By the Buddha’s spiritual power, he caused all the adornments of this enlightenment site to be reflected therein. 其菩提樹高顯殊特：金剛為身，瑠璃為幹；眾雜妙寶以為枝條；寶葉扶踈，垂蔭如雲；寶華雜色，分枝布影，復以摩尼而為其果，含輝發焰，與華間列。 The tree of enlightenment was tall and outstanding. Its trunk was diamond, its maind boughs were lapis lazuli, its branches and twigs were of various precious elements. The leaves, spreading in all directions, provided shade, like clouds. The precious blossoms were of various colors, the branching twigs spread out their shadows. Also the fruits were jewels containing a blazing radiance. They were together with the flowers in great arrays. 其樹周圍咸放光明，於光明中雨摩尼寶，摩尼寶內，有諸菩薩，其眾如雲，俱時出現。 The entire circumference of the tree emanated light; within the light there rained precious stones, and within each gem were enlightening beings, in great hosts like clouds, simultaneously appearing. 又以如來威神力故，其菩提樹恒出妙音，說種種法，無有盡極。 Also, by virtue of the awesome spiritual power of the Buddha, the tree of enlightenment constantly gave forth sublime sounds speaking various truths without end. 如來所處宮殿樓閣，廣博嚴麗充遍十方，眾色摩尼之所集成，種種寶華以為莊校；諸莊嚴具流光如雲，從宮殿間萃影成幢。 The palace chamber in which the Buddha was situated was spacious and beautifully adorned. It extended throughout the ten directions. It was made of jewels of various colors and was decorated with all kinds [page56] of precious flowers. The various adornments emanated lights like clouds; the masses of their reflections from within the palace formed banners. 無邊菩薩道場眾會咸集其所，以能出現諸佛光明不思議音。 A boundless host of enlightening beings, the congregation at the site of enlightenment, were all gathered there: by means of the ability to manifest the lights and inconceivable sounds of the Buddhas, 摩尼寶王而為其網，如來自在神通之力所有境界皆從中出；一切眾生居處屋宅，皆於此中現其影像。 they fashioned nets of the finest jewels, from which came forth all the realms of action of the spiritual powers of the Buddhas, and in which were reflected images of the abodes of all beings. 又以諸佛神力所加，一念之間，悉包法界。 Also, by virtue of the aid of the spiritual power of the Buddha, they embraced the entire cosmos in a single thought. 其師子座，高廣妙好：摩尼為臺，蓮華為網，清淨妙寶以為其輪，眾色雜華而作瓔珞。 Their lion seats were high, wide, and beautiful. The bases were made of jewels, their nets of lotus blossoms, their tableaus of pure, exquisite gemstones. They were adorned with various flowers of all colors. 堂榭、樓閣、階砌、戶牖，凡諸物像，備體莊嚴；寶樹枝果，周迴間列。 Their roofs, chambers, steps, and doors were adorned by the images of all things. The branches and fruits of jewel trees surrounded them, arrayed at intervals. 摩尼光雲，互相照耀；十方諸佛，化現珠玉；一切菩薩髻中妙寶，悉放光明而來瑩燭。 Clouds of radiance of jewels reflected each other: the Buddhas of the ten directions conjured regal pearls, and the exquisite jewels in the topknots of all the enlightening beings all emanated light, which came and illuminated them. 復以諸佛威神所持，演說如來廣大境界，妙音遐暢，無處不及。 Furthermore, sustained by the spiritual power of all Buddhas, they expounded the vast perspective of the Enlightened Ones, their subtle tones extending afar, there being no place they did not reach. 爾時，世尊處于此座，於一切法成最正覺，智入三世悉皆平等，其身充滿一切世間，其音普順十方國土。 At that time, the Buddha, the World Honored One, in this setting, attained to supreme, correct awareness of all things. His knowledge entered into all times with complete equanimity; his body filled all worlds; his voice universally accorded with all lands in the ten directions. 譬如虛空具含眾像，於諸境界無所分別；又如虛空普遍一切，於諸國土平等隨入。 Like space, which contains all forms, he made no discrimination among all objects. And, as space extends everywhere, he entered all lands with equanimity. 身恒遍坐一切道場，菩薩眾中威光赫奕，如日輪出，照明世界。 His body forever sat ominipresent in all sites of enlightenment. Among the host of enlightening beings, his awesome light shone clearly, like the sun emerging, illumining the world. 三世所行，眾福大海，悉已清淨，而恒示生諸佛國土。 The ocean of myriad virtues which he practiced in all times was thoroughly pure, and he constantly demonstrated the production of all the buddha-lands, 無邊色相，圓滿光明，遍周法界，等無差別；演一切法，如布大雲。 their boundless forms and sphere of light extending throughout the entire cosmos, equally and impartially. He expounded all truths, like spreading great clouds. 一一毛端，悉能容受一切世界而無障礙，各現無量神通之力，教化調伏一切眾生；身遍十方而無來往，智入諸相，了法空寂。 Each of his hairtips was able to contain all worlds without interference, in each manifesting immeasurable spiritual powers, teaching and civilizing all sentient beings. His body extended throughout the ten directions, yet without coming or going. His knowledge entered into all forms and realized the emptiness of things. 三世諸佛所有神變，於光明中靡不咸覩；一切佛土不思議劫所有莊嚴，悉令顯現。 All the miraculous displays of the Buddhas of past, present, and future, were all seen in his light, and all the adornments of inconceivable eons were revealed. 有十佛世界微塵數菩薩摩訶薩所共圍遶，其名曰：1.普賢菩薩摩訶薩、2.普德最勝燈光照菩薩摩訶薩、3.普光師子幢菩薩摩訶薩、4.普寶焰妙光菩薩摩訶薩、5.普音功德海幢菩薩摩訶薩、6.普智光照如來境菩薩摩訶薩、7.普寶髻華幢菩薩摩訶薩、8.普覺悅意聲菩薩摩訶薩、9.普清淨無盡福光菩薩摩訶薩、10.普光明相菩薩摩訶薩、11.海月光大明菩薩摩訶薩、12.雲音海光無垢藏菩薩摩訶薩、13.功德寶髻智生菩薩摩訶薩、14.功德自在王大光菩薩摩訶薩、15.善勇猛蓮華髻菩薩摩訶薩、16.普智雲日幢菩薩摩訶薩、17.大精進金剛臍菩薩摩訶薩、18.香焰光幢菩薩摩訶薩、19.大明德深美音菩薩摩訶薩、20.大福光智生菩薩摩訶薩……。 There were great enlightening beings numerous as the atoms in ten buddha-worlds surrounding him. Their names were: 1.Universally Good [p57] (Samantabhadra), 2. Light of the Supreme Lamp of Universal Virtue, 3.Lion Banner of Universal Light, 4. Subtle Light of Flames of Universal Jewels, 5. Banner of Oceans of Qualities of Universal Sounds, 6. Realm of Enlightenment of Radiance of Universal Knowledge, 7. Banner of Flowers of a Topknot of Universal Jewels, 8. Pleasing Voice of Universal Awareness, 9. Light of Inexhaustible Virtue of Universal Purity, 10. Mark of Universal Light, 11. Great Brilliance of the Light of the Moon Reflected in the Ocean, 12. Undefiled Treasury of Light of Oceans of Cloudlike Sounds, 13. Born of Wisdom and Adorned with Virtue, 14. Great Light of Sovereign Virtue, 15. Brave Lotus Topknot, 16. Sun Banner of Clouds of Universal Knowledge, 17. Greatly Persevering with Indestructible Courage, 18. Light Banner of Fragrant Flames, 19. Deep Beautiful Sound of Great Enlightened Virtue, 20. Born of Wisdom with the Light of Great Virtue. 如是等而為上首，有十佛世界微塵數。 These and others were the leaders--there were as many as there are atoms in ten buddha-worlds. 1.此諸菩薩，往昔皆與毘盧遮那如來共集善根，修菩薩行；皆從如來善根海生，2.諸波羅蜜悉已圓滿；慧眼明徹，3.等觀三世；於諸三昧，具足清淨；4.辯才如海，廣大無盡；5.具佛功德，尊嚴可敬；知眾生根，如應化伏；6.入法界藏，智無差別；證佛解脫，甚深廣大；7.能隨方便，入於一地，而以一切願海所持，恒與智俱盡未來際；8.了達諸佛希有廣大祕密之境，9.善知一切佛平等法，已踐如來普光明地，入於無量三昧海門；10.於一切處，皆隨現身；世法所行，悉同其事；11.總持廣大，集眾法海；12.辯才善巧，轉不退輪；13.一切如來功德大海，咸入其身；14.一切諸佛所在國土，皆隨願往；15.已曾供養一切諸佛，無邊際劫，歡喜無倦；16.一切如來得菩提處，常在其中，親近不捨；17.恒以所得普賢願海，令一切眾生智身具足。 1. These enlightening beings had all in the past accumulated roots of goodness along with Vairocana Buddha, and were all born from the ocean of roots of goodness of the Buddha. 2. They had already fulfilled the various means of transcendence, and their wisdom eye was thoroughly clear. 3. They observed all times with impartiality. They were thoroughly purified in all states of concentration. 4. Their eloquence was oceanic, extensive and inexhaustible. 5. They possessed the qualities of buddhahood, were dignified and honorable. They knew the faculties of sentient beings, and taught them according to potential and necessity. 6. They entered into the matrix of the cosmos, their knowledge was nondiscriminatory; they experienced the liberation of the Buddhas, exceedingly deep and immensely vast. 7. They were able to enter into one state, according to technical expediency, yet maintain the virtues of all stages, supported by the ocean of all vows, always accompanied by wisdom, throughout the future. 8. They had thoroughly comprehended the rarely-attained, vast secret realm of all Buddhas. 9. They were familiar with the equal teachings of all Buddhas. They were already treading the Buddhas' ground of universal light. They entered the doors of boundless oceans of concentrations. 10. They manifested bodies in all places and participated in worldly activities. 11. Their memory power was enormous, and they assembled the ocean of all the teachings. 12. With intelligence, eloquence, and skill they turned the wheel which never turns back. 13.The vast ocean of virtuous qualities of all Buddhas entered entirely into their bodies. 14. They went willingly to all the lands in which there were Buddhas. 15. They had already made offerings to all Buddhas, over boundless eons, joyfully and tirelessly. 16. In all places when the Buddhas attained enlightenment, they were always there, approaching them and associating with them, never giving up. 17. Always, by means of the vows of universal goodness and wisdom, they caused the wisdom-body of all sentient beings to be fulfilled. 成就如是無量功德。 They had perfected innumerable such virtues. 復有佛世界微塵數執金剛神，所謂：1.妙色那羅延執金剛神、2.日輪速疾幢執金剛神、3.須彌華光執金剛神、4.清淨雲音執金剛神、5.諸根美妙執金剛神、6.可愛樂光明執金剛神、7.大樹雷音執金剛神、8.師子王光明執金剛神、9密焰勝目執金剛神、10蓮華光摩尼髻執金剛神……。 [58] There were also present thunderbolt-bearing spirits, as numerous as atoms in a buddha-world, known as 1. Demigod of Wonderful Form, 2. Banner of Swiftness of the Sun, 3. Light of the Flowers of the Polar Mountain, 4. Pure Sound of Clouds, 5. Sublime Faculties, 6. Delightful Light, 7. Sound of Thunder in Great Tress, 8. Lion King Light, 9. Auspicious Eye of Intense Flames, 10. Jewel Topknot of Lotus Light; 如是等而為上首，有佛世界微塵數，皆於往昔無量劫中恒發大願，願常親近供養諸佛；隨願所行，已得圓滿，到於彼岸；積集無邊清淨福業，於諸三昧所行之境悉已明達；獲神通力，隨如來住，入不思議解脫境界；處於眾會，威光特達，隨諸眾生所應現身而示調伏；一切諸佛化形所在，皆隨化往；一切如來所住之處，常勤守護。 these were the leaders, and there were as many of them as there are atoms in a buddha-world. All of them had constantly invoked great vows over countless past eons, vowing to always draw near to and serve the Buddhas. Their practices in accord with their vows had already reached fulfillment, and they had reached the other shore. They had accumulated boundless pure good works. They had clearly arrived at all the realms of meditative absorption, and had attained spiritual powers. They dwelt wherever a Buddha was, and entered into the realm of inconceivable liberation; taking their place in the assembly, their dignified light stood out. They manifested their bodies according to the needs of sentient beings and thereby pacified them. Wherever there were manifestations of Buddhas, they all went there magically. Wherever the Buddhas dwelt, they always diligently guarded and protected the place. 復有佛世界微塵數身眾神，所謂：1.華髻莊嚴身眾神、2.光照十方身眾神、3.海音調伏身眾神、4.淨華嚴髻身眾神、5.無量威儀身眾神、6.最上光嚴身眾神、7.淨光香雲身眾神、8.守護攝持身眾神、9.普現攝取身眾神、10.不動光明身眾神……。 There were also multiple-body spirits, numerous as atoms in a buddha-world, known as 1. Flower Topknot Adornment, 2. Light Illumining All Directions, 3. Oceanic Sound Conquering, 4. Pure Flower Adorned Topknot, 5. Infinite Dignified Postures, 6. Array of Supreme Light, 7. Fragrant Clouds of Pure Light, 8. Guardian Sustainer, 9. Ubiquitious Shepherd, 10. Immutable Light. 如是等而為上首，有佛世界微塵數，皆於往昔成就大願，供養承事一切諸佛。 These were the leaders; there were as many as there are atoms in a buddha-world. They had all in the past fulfilled great vows and had provided for and served all the Buddhas. 復有佛世界微塵數足行神，所謂；1.寶印手足行神、2.蓮華光足行神、3.清淨華髻足行神、4.攝諸善見足行神、5.妙寶星幢足行神、6.樂吐妙音足行神、7.栴檀樹光足行神、8.蓮華光明足行神、9.微妙光明足行神、10.積集妙華足行神……。 Also there were footstep-following spirits, numerous as atoms in a buddha-world. Their leaders were known as 1. Precious Symbol, 2. Lotus Light, 3. Topknot of Pure Flowers, 4. Embodying All Beautiful Visions, 5. Exquisite Gem Star Banner, 6. Joyfully Uttering Sublime Sounds, 7. Sandalwood Tree Light, 8. Lotus Luminosity, 9. Subtle Light, 10. Collection of Fine Flowers, and so on. 如是等而為上首，有佛世界微塵數，皆於過去無量劫中，親近如來，隨逐不捨。 Over innumerable past ages they had all associated with Buddhas, always following them. 復有佛世界微塵數道場神，所謂：1.淨莊嚴幢道場神、2.須彌寶光道場神、3.雷音幢相道場神、4.雨華妙眼道場神、5.華纓光髻道場神、6.雨寶莊嚴道場神、7.勇猛香眼道場神、8.金剛彩雲道場神、9.蓮華光明道場神、10.妙光照耀道場神……。 There were also sanctuary spirits, as numerous as atoms in a buddha-world. Their leaders were known as 1. Banner of Pure Adornments, 2. Polar Mountain Jewel Light, 3.Sign of the Thunder Banner, 4. Wonderful Eyes Raining Flowers, 5. Garland Light Topknot, 6. Raining Jewel Arrays, 7. Courageous Fragrant Eye, 8. Diamond-Colored Cloud, 9. Lotus Light, 10. Radiance of Ineffable Light, and so on. 如是等而為上首，有佛世界微塵數，皆於過去值無量佛，成就願力，廣興供養。 All of them had in the past met innumerable Buddhas, perfected their will power, and brought forth extensive offerings. 復有佛世界微塵數主城神，所謂：1.寶峯光耀主城神、2.妙嚴宮殿主城神、3.清淨喜寶主城神、4.離憂清淨主城神、5.華燈焰眼主城神、6.焰幢明現主城神、7.盛福光明主城神、8.清淨光明主城神、9.香髻莊嚴主城神、10.妙寶光明主城神……。 There were also city spirits, as numerous as atoms in a buddha-world. Their leaders were known as 1. Jewel Peak Radiance, 2. Beautifully Adorned Palace, 3. Jewel of Pure Joy, 4. Sorrowless Purity, 5. Flower Lamp Flame Eyes, 6. Flame Banner Clearly Showing, 7. Light of Virtue, 8. Pure [59] Light, 9. Fragrant Topknot Adornment, 10.Beautiful Jewel Light, and so on. 如是等而為上首，有佛世界微塵數，皆於無量不思議劫，嚴淨如來所居宮殿。 All of them had, over innumerable, inconceivable eons, adorned the mansions in which the Buddhas stayed. 復有佛世界微塵數主地神，所謂：1.普德淨華主地神、2.堅福莊嚴主地神、3.妙華嚴樹主地神、4.普散眾寶主地神、5.淨目觀時主地神、6.妙色勝眼主地神、7.香毛發光主地神、8.悅意音聲主地神、9.妙華旋髻主地神、10.金剛嚴體主地神……。 There were also earth spirits, as numerous as atomic particles in a buddha-world. Their leaders were known as 1. Pure Flower of Universal Virtue, 2. Adornment of Stable Blessings, 3. Beautiful Flower Adorned Tree, 4. Universal Distributor of Treasures, 5. Pure Eye Observing the Season, 6. Beautiful Supreme Eye, 7. Fragrant Hair Emitting Light, 8. Pleasing Sound, 9. Curled Topknot of Beautiful Flowers, 10.Diamond-Adorned Body, and so on. 如是等而為上首，有佛世界微塵數，皆於往昔發深重願，願常親近諸佛如來，同修福業。 They had all in the past made profound, grave vows, vowing to always associate with the Buddhas and cultivate the same virtuous acts. 復有無量主山神，所謂：1.寶峯開華主山神，2.華林妙髻主山神、3.高幢普照主山神、4.離塵淨髻主山神、5.光照十方主山神、6.大力光明主山神、7.威光普勝主山神、8.微密光輪主山神、9普眼現見主山神、10.金剛密眼主山神……。 There were also innumerable mountain spirits, led by such as 1. Jewel Peak Blooming Flower, 2. Flower Forest Beautiful Topknot, 3. Lofty Banner Shining Everywhere, 4. Undefiled Jewel Topknot, 5. Light Illumining All Directions, 6. Light of Great Power, 7. Awesome Light Conquering All, 8. Light-Orb of Subtle Intensity, 9. Universal Eye Clearly Seeing, 10. Adamantine Eye of Mystery. 如是等而為上首，其數無量，皆於諸法得清淨眼。 They had all attained pure eyes in regarding all things. 復有不可思議數主林神，所謂：1.布華如雲主林神、2.擢幹舒光主林神、3.生芽發耀主林神、4.吉祥淨葉主林神、5.垂布焰藏主林神、6.清淨光明主林神、7.可意雷音主林神、8.光香普遍主林神、9妙光迴耀主林神、10.華果光味主林神……。 There were also an inconceivable number of forest spirits, led by such spirits as 1. Spreading Flowers Like Clouds, 2. Outstanding Trunk Unfolding Light, 3. Bearing Branches Emitting Radiance, 4. Auspicious Pure Leaves, 5. Draped Flame Treasury, 6. Pure Light, 7. Pleasant Thunder, 8. Light and Fragrance All-Pervading, 9. Subtle Light Shining Far, 10. Flowers and Fruits Savoring of Light, and so on. 如是等而為上首，不思議數，皆有無量可愛光明。 They all had infinite pleasing glows. 復有無量主藥神，所謂：1.吉祥主藥神、2.栴檀林主藥神、3.清淨光明主藥神、4.名稱普聞主藥神、5.毛孔光明主藥神、6.普治清淨主藥神、7.大發吼聲主藥神、8.蔽日光幢主藥神、9.明見十方主藥神、10.益氣明目主藥神……。 There were also innumerable herb spirits, led by such as 1. Auspicious, 2. Sandalwood Forest, 3. Pure Light, 4. Universal Renown, 5. Radiant Pores, 6. Universal Purifier, 7. Roarer, 8. Banner of Light Outshining the Sun, 9. Seeing in All Directions, 10. Energy-Augmenting Clear Eyes, and so on. 如是等而為上首，其數無量，性皆離垢，仁慈祐物。 Their natures were all free from defilement, and they helped beings with kindness and compassion. 復有無量主稼神，所謂：1.柔軟勝味主稼神、2.時華淨光主稼神、3.色力勇健主稼神、4.增長精氣主稼神、5.普生根果主稼神、6.妙嚴環髻主稼神、7.潤澤淨華主稼神、8.成就妙香主稼神、9.見者愛樂主稼神、10.離垢淨光主稼神……。 There were also innumerable crop spirits, led by such spirits as 1. Gentle Superb Flavor, 2. Pure Light of Seasonal Flowers, 3. Physical Strength Courage and Health, 4. Increasing Vitality,5. Everywhere Producing Roots and Fruits, 6. Wonderfully Adorned Circular Topknot, 7. Moistening Pure Flowers, 8. Developing Wonderful Fragrance, 9. Liked by All Who See, 10. Undefiled Pure Light. 如是等而為上首，其數無量，莫不皆得大喜成就。 All of them had attained perfection of great joyfulness. 復有無量主河神，所謂：1.普發迅流主河神、2.普潔泉澗主河神、3.離塵淨眼主河神、4.十方遍吼主河神、5.救護眾生主河神、6.無熱淨光主河神、7.普生歡喜主河神、8.廣德勝幢主河神、9.光照普世主河神、10.海德光明主河神……。 There were also innumerable river spirits, led by such spirits as 1. Everywhere Producing Swift Currents, 2. Universally Purifying Springs and Streams, 3. Dustfree Pure Eye, 4. Roaring Everywhere, 5. Rescuing Sentient Beings, 6. Heatless Pure Light, 7. Universally Causing Joy, 8. Supreme Banner of Extensive Virtue, 9. Light Shining on All Worlds, 10. Light of Oceanic Virtues. 如是等而為上首，有無量數，皆勤作意利益眾生。 All of them diligently Concentrated on benefiting living beings. 復有無量主海神，所謂：1.出現寶光主海神、2.成金剛幢主海神、3.遠塵離垢主海神、4.普水宮殿主海神、5.吉祥寶月主海神、6.妙華龍髻主海神、7.普持光味主海神、8.寶焰華光主海神、9.金剛妙髻主海神、10.海潮雷聲主海神……。 There were also innumerable ocean spirits, led by such spirits as [p60]1. Producing Jewel Light, 2. Diamond Banner, 3. Undefiled, 4. Palaces in All Waters, 5. Auspicious Jewel Moon, 6. Beautiful Flower Dragon Topknot, 7. Everywhere Holding the Flavor of Light, 8. Jewel Flame Flower Light, 9. Beautiful Diamond Topknot, 10. Thunder of the Ocean Tide. 如是等而為上首，其數無量，悉以如來功德大海充滿其身。 They had all filled their bodies with the great ocean of virtues of the Buddhas. 復有無量主水神，所謂：1.普興雲幢主水神、2.海潮雲音主水神、3.妙色輪髻主水神、4.善巧漩澓主水神、5.離垢香積主水神、6.福橋光音主水神、7.知足自在主水神、8.淨喜善音主水神、9.普現威光主水神、10.吼音遍海主水神……。 There were also innumerable water spirits, led by such spirits as 1. Ubiquitous Cloud Banner, 2. Cloudlike Sounc of the Ocean Tide, 3. Beautiful Round Topknot, 4. Whirlpool of Skills, 5. Store of Undefiled Fragrance, 6. Virtue Bridge Light Sound, 7. Freedom of Contentment, 8. Good Sound of Pure Joy, 9. Everywhere Manifesting Awesome Light, 10. Thunder and Lightning. 如是等而為上首，不可稱數，皆能示現種種光明，令諸眾生熱惱除滅。 All of them manifested various kinds of light, causing the irritations of sentient beings to vanish. 復有無量主風神，所謂：1.無礙光明主風神、2.普現勇業主風神、3.飄擊雲幢主風神、4.淨光莊嚴主風神、5.力能竭水主風神、6.大聲遍吼主風神、7.樹杪垂髻主風神、8.所行無礙主風神、9.種種宮殿主風神、10.大光普照主風神……。 There were also innumerable wind spirits, led by such spirits as Unimpeded Light, Everywhere Manifesting Courageous Action, Wind Striking Cloud Banner, Arrays of Light, Power Able to Dry Up Water, Great Voice Howling Everywhere, Tree Branch Hanging Topknot, Unimpeded Wherever It Goes, Various Mansions, Great Light Shining Everywhere. 如是等而為上首，其數無量，皆勤散滅我慢之心。 They all worked to dispel the mentality of conceit. 復有無量主空神，所謂：1.淨光普照主空神、2.普遊深廣主空神、3.生吉祥風主空神、4.離障安住主空神、5.廣步妙髻主空神、6.無礙光焰主空神、7.無礙勝力主空神、8.離垢光明主空神、9.深遠妙音主空神、10.光遍十方主空神……。 There were also innumerable space spirits, led by such spirits as 1. Pure Light Shining All Around, 2. Traveling Everywhere Deeply and Extensively, 3. Producing Auspicious Wind, 4. Abiding Securely Beyond Obstruction, 5. Broad Steps and Beautiful Topknot, 6. Unhindered Light Flames, 7. Unobstructed Conquering Power, 8. Spotless Light, 9. Deep and Far-Reaching Sublime Sound, 10. Traveling Everywhere Watching. 如是等而為上首，其數無量，能以方便，普放光明，恒照十方，相續不絕。 They were able, by means of their skills, to emanate light in all directions, always illuminating the ten directions continuously without interruption. 復有無量主夜神，所謂：1.普德淨光主夜神、2.喜眼觀世主夜神、3.護世精氣主夜神、4.寂靜海音主夜神、5.普現吉祥主夜神、6.普發樹華主夜神、7.平等護育主夜神、8.遊戲快樂主夜神、9.諸根常喜主夜神、10.出生淨福主夜神……。 There were also innumerable night spirits, led by such spirits as Pure Light of Universal Virtue, Observing the World with Joyful Eyes, Everywhere Manifesting Auspicious Omens, Everywhere Causing Tree Flowers to Bloom, All Senses Always Joyful, Producing Pure Bounty. 如是等而為上首，其數無量，皆勤修習，以法為樂。 They all practiced diligently, taking delight in the truth. 復有無量主晝神，所謂：1.示現宮殿主晝神、2.發起慧香主晝神、3.樂勝莊嚴主晝神、4.香華妙光主晝神、5.普集妙藥主晝神、6.樂作喜目主晝神、7.普現諸方主晝神、8.大悲光明主晝神、9.善根光照主晝神、10.妙華瓔珞主晝神……。 There were also innumerable day spirits, led by such as 1. Garlands of Beautiful Flowers. 如是等而為上首，其數無量，皆於妙法能生信解，恒共精勤嚴飾宮殿。 They all had certain faith in the sublime truth and always strived diligently in concert to adorn the palace. 復有無量阿脩羅王，所謂：1.羅睺阿脩羅王、2.毘摩質多羅阿脩羅王、3.巧幻術阿脩羅王、4.大眷屬阿脩羅王、5.大力阿脩羅王、6.遍照阿脩羅王、7.堅固行妙莊嚴阿脩羅王、8.廣大因慧阿脩羅王、9.出現勝德阿脩羅王、10.妙好音聲阿脩羅王……。 There were also innumerable titan kings, led by such as 1. Rahula, 2. Bhimacitta, 3. Skillful Magical Arts, 4. Great Following, 5. Great Strength, 6. Universal Shining, 7. Wonderful Adornment of Firm Action, 8. Vast Causal Wisdom, 9. Manifesting Superior Qualities, 10. Sublime Voice. 如是等而為上首，其數無量，悉已精勤摧伏我慢及諸煩惱。 They had all worked energetically to conquer pride and other afflictions. 復有不可思議數迦樓羅王，所謂：1.大速疾力迦樓羅王、2.無能壞寶髻迦樓羅王、3.清淨速疾迦樓羅王、4.心不退轉迦樓羅王、5.大海處攝持力迦樓羅王、6.堅固淨光迦樓羅王、7.巧嚴冠髻迦樓羅王、8.普捷示現迦樓羅王、9.普觀海迦樓羅王、10.普音廣目迦樓羅王……。 There were also innumerable garuda kings, led by such as 1. Power of Great Swiftness, 2. Unbreakable Jewel Topknot, 3. Pure Spreed, 4. Nonregressing Mind, 5. Sustaining Power in the Ocean, 6. Steady Pure Light, 7. Artistically Decorated Crown Topknot, 8. Immediate Manifestation Everywhere, 9. Surveying the Ocean, 10. Universal Sound and Broad Eyes. 如是等而為上首，不思議數，悉已成就大方便力，善能救攝一切眾生。 They had already perfected the power of great skill in expedient methods of liberation and were able to rescue all beings. 復有無量緊那羅王，所謂：1.善慧光明天緊那羅王、2.妙華幢緊那羅王、3.種種莊嚴緊那羅王、4.悅意吼聲緊那羅王、5.寶樹光明緊那羅王、6.見者欣樂緊那羅王、7.最勝光莊嚴緊那羅王、8.微妙華幢緊那羅王、9.動地力緊那羅王、10.攝伏惡眾緊那羅王……。 There were also an inconceivable number of kinnara kings, led by such as 1. Heaven of Light of Refined Intellect, 2. Exquisite Flower Banner, 3. Various Adornments, 4. Pleasing Sound, 5. Jewel Tree Light, 6. Delight to the Beholder, 7. Adornment of Supreme Light, 8. Delicate Flower Banner, 9. Earth-Shaking Power, 10. Beneficent Wisdom, 2. Pure Dignified Sound, 3. Adornment of Supreme Wisdom, 4. Lord of Sublime Eyes, 5. Lamplike Banner Refuge of the Masses, 6. Supreme Light Banner, 7. Lion Guts, 8. Sound Adorned by Myriad Subtleties, 9. Stable as a Polar Mountain, 10. Delightful Light. 如是等而為上首，其數無量，皆勤修習廣大方便，令諸眾生永割癡網。 They all diligently cultivated great and extensive skills in method to cause sentient beings to forever tear apart the net of ignorance. 復有無量夜叉王，所謂：1.毘沙門夜叉王、2.自在音夜叉王、3.嚴持器仗夜叉王、4.大智慧夜叉王、5.焰眼主夜叉王、6.金剛眼夜叉王、7.勇健臂夜叉王、8.勇敵大軍夜叉王、9.富資財夜叉王、10.力壞高山夜叉王……。 There were also innumerable yaksha kings, led by such as Vaisharavana, Independent Sound, Solemn Weapon Bearer, Great Wisdom, Lord of Flaming Eyes, Adamantine Eye, Arm of Courage and Strength, Bravely Resisting General, Rich in Material Goods, Power to Smash High Mountains. 如是等而為上首，其數無量，皆勤守護一切眾生。 They all strived to guard and protect all living beings. 復有無量諸大龍王，所謂：1.毘樓博叉龍王、2.娑竭羅龍王、3.雲音妙幢龍王、4.焰口海光龍王、5.普高雲幢龍王、6.德叉迦龍王、7.無邊步龍王、8.清淨色龍王、9.普運大聲龍王、10.無熱惱龍王……。 There were also innumerable great naga kings, led by such as 1. Brave and Strong Arms, 9. Boundless Pure Flower Eyes, [62] 10. Enormous Godlike Face with Titan's Eyes. 如是等而為上首，其數無量，皆勤修學無礙法門，放大光明。 They all diligently practiced and studied the teachings of freedom from impediment, and emitted great light. 復有無量乾闥婆王，所謂：1.持國乾闥婆王、2.樹光乾闥婆王、3.淨目乾闥婆王、4.華冠乾闥婆王、5.普音乾闥婆王、6.樂搖動妙目乾闥婆王、7.妙音師子幢乾闥婆王、8.普放寶光明乾闥婆王、9.金剛樹華幢乾闥婆王、10.樂普現莊嚴乾闥婆王……。 There were also innumerable gandharva kings, led by such as 1. Sustaining the Nation, 2. Tree Light, 3. Clear Eyes, 4. Flower Crown, 5. Universal Sound, 6. Joyously Moving Beautiful Eyes, 7. Wondrous Sound Lion Banner, 9. Diamond Tree Flower Banner, 10. Joyfully Causing Adornments to Appear Everywhere. 如是等而為上首，其數無量，皆於大法深生信解，歡喜愛重，勤修不倦。 They all had deep faith and appreciation of the great teaching, rejoiced in it and respected it, and diligently practiced it tirelessly. 復有無量月天子，所謂1.月天子：2.華王髻光明天子、3.眾妙淨光明天子、4.安樂世間心天子、5.樹王眼光明天子、6.示現清淨光天子、7.普遊不動光天子、8.星宿王自在天子、9.淨覺月天子、10.大威德光明天子……。 There were also innumerable moon deities, led by such as 1. Moon Godling, 2. Flower King Topknot Halo, 3. Myriad Sublime Pure Lights, 4. Pacifying the Hearts of the World, 5. Luminosity of Tree King Eyes, 6. Manifesting Pure Light, 7. Immutable Light Traveling Everywhere, 8. Sovereign Monarch of Constellations, 9. Moon of Pure Awareness, 10. Great Majestic Light. 如是等而為上首，其數無量，皆勤顯發眾生心寶。 All strived to bring to light the mind-jewel of living beings. 復有無量日天子，所謂日天子：1.光焰眼天子、2.須彌光可畏敬幢天子、3.離垢寶莊嚴天子、4.勇猛不退轉天子、5.妙華纓光明天子、6.最勝幢光明天子、7.寶髻普光明天子、8.光明眼天子、9.持勝德天子、10.普光明天子……。 There were also innumerable sun deities, led by such as Sun Godling, 1. Eyes of Flames of Light, 2. Awesome Light, 3. Undefied Jewel Arrays, 4. Non-regressing Courage, 5. Light of Beautiful Flower Garlands, 6. Supreme Banner Light, 7. Universal Light of a Jewel Topknot, 8. Eyes of Light. 如是等而為上首，其數無量，皆勤修習，利益眾生，增其善根。 All of them diligently learned and practiced to benefit living beings and increase their roots of goodness. 復有無量三十三天王，所謂：1.釋迦因陀羅天王、2.普稱滿音天王、3.慈目寶髻天王、4.寶光幢名稱天王、5.發生喜樂髻天王、6.可愛樂正念天王、7.須彌勝音天王、8.成就念天王、9.可愛樂淨華光天王、10.智日眼天王、11.自在光明能覺悟天王……。 There were also innumerable kings of the thirty-three heavens, led by such as 1. Shakra Indra, 2.. Everywhere Intoning Fulsome Sound, 3. Kind Eyes Jewel Topknot, 4. Jewel Light Banner Fame, 5. Joy-Producing Topknot, 6. Admirable Right Mindfulness, 7. Supreme Sound of the Polar Mountain, 8. Perfect Mindfulness, 9. Pleasing Flower Light, 10. Eye of the Sun of Knowledge, 11. Independent Light Able to Enlighten. 如是等而為上首，其數無量，皆勤發起一切世間廣大之業。 All of them strived to bring forth great works in all worlds. 復有無量須夜摩天王，所謂：1.善時分天王、2.可愛樂光明天王、3.無盡慧功德幢天王、4.善變化端嚴天王、5.總持大光明天王、6.不思議智慧天王、7.輪臍天王、8.光焰天王、9.光照天王、10.普觀察大名稱天王……。 There were also innumerable kings of the Suyama heavens, led by such as 1. Timely Portion, 2. Delightful Light, 3. Banner of Inexhaustible Wisdom and Virtue, 4. Skilled in Miraculous Displays, 5. Great Light of Memory Power, 6. Inconceivable Wisdom, 7. Circular Navel, 8. Light Flames, 9. Illumination, 10.Greatly Famed for Universal Observation. 如是等而為上首，其數無量，皆勤修習廣大善根，心常喜足。 All of them diligently cultivated great roots of goodness, and their minds were always joyful and content. 復有不可思議數兜率陀天王，所謂：1.知足天王、2.喜樂海髻天王、3.最勝功德幢天王、4.寂靜光天王、5.可愛樂妙目天王、6.寶峯淨月天王、7.最勝勇健力天王、8.金剛妙光明天王、9.星宿莊嚴幢天王、10.可愛樂莊嚴天王……。 There were also an inconceivable number of kings of the Tushita heavens, led by such as Contented, Ocean of Bliss Topknot, Supreme Virtue Banner, Still and Silent Light, Pleasing Beautiful Eyes, Clear Moon on a Jewel Peak, Supreme Courage and Strength, Subtle Diamond Light, Constellation Array Banner, Pleasing Adornments. 如是等而為上首，不思議數，皆勤念持一切諸佛所有名號。 All of them diligently kept in mind the names and epithets of all the Buddhas. 復有無量化樂天王，所謂：1.善變化天王、2.寂靜音光明天王、3.變化力光明天王、4.莊嚴主天王、5.念光天王、6.最上雲音天王、7.眾妙最勝光天王、8.妙髻光明天王、9.成就喜慧天王、10.華光髻天王、11.普見十方天王……。 There were also innumerable kings of the heavens of enjoyment of emanations, led by such as 1. Skillful Transformation and Emanation, 2. Light of Silent Sound, 3. Light of the Power of Transformation and Emanation, 4. Master of Adornment, 5. Light of Mindfulness, 6. Supreme Cloud Sound, 7. Supreme Light of Myriad Subtleties, 8. Exquisite Topknot [63]Light, 9. Perfect Joy and Intellect, 10. Flower Light Topknot, and 11. Seeing in All Directions. 如是等而為上首，其數無量，皆勤調伏一切眾生，令得解脫。 All of them worked diligently to tame living beings and enable them to attain liberation. 復有無數他化自在天王，所謂：1.得自在天王、2.妙目主天王、3.妙冠幢天王、4.勇猛慧天王、5.妙音句天王、6.妙光幢天王、7.寂靜境界門天王、8.妙輪莊嚴幢天王、9.華蘂慧自在天王、10.因陀羅力妙莊嚴光明天王……。 There were also countless kings of the heavens of free enjoyment of others' emanations, led by such as 1. Sovereign Freedom, 2. Sublime Eye Lord, 3. Beautiful Crown Banner, 4. Courageous Intelligence, 5. Wonderful Sound Phrases, 6. Subtle Light Banner, 7. Gate of the Realm of Peace, 8. Array of Splendid Discs Banner, 9. Flower Grove Independent Intellect, and 10. Light of Beautiful Adornments of the Power of Indra. 如是等而為上首，其數無量，皆勤修習自在方便廣大法門。 All of them diligently practiced and studied the vast and great teaching of independent skill in means of liberation. 復有不可數大梵天王，所謂：1.尸棄天王、2.慧光天王、3.善慧光明天王、4.普雲音天王、5.觀世言音自在天王、6.寂靜光明眼天王、7.光遍十方天王、8.變化音天王、9.光明照耀眼天王、10.悅意海音天王……。 There were also uncountable kings of the great brahma heavens, led by such as 1. Shikhin, 2. Light of Wisdom, 3. Radiance of Benificent Wisdom, 4. Sound of Ubiquitous Clouds, 5. Independent Observer of the Sounds of Speech of the Worlds, 6. Eyes of Still Light, 7. All-Pervading Light, 8. Sound of Magical Displays, 9. Eyes of Shining Light, and 10. Pleasing Ocean Sound. 如是等而為上首，不可稱數，皆具大慈，憐愍眾生，舒光普照，令其快樂。 All of them had great compassion and took pity on living beings; unfolding light that illumined everywhere,, they caused them to be joyful and blissful. 復有無量光音天王，所謂：1.可愛樂光明天王、2.清淨妙光天王、3.能自在音天王、4.最勝念智天王、5.可愛樂清淨妙音天王、6.善思惟音天王、7.普音遍照天王、8.甚深光音天王、9.無垢稱光明天王、10.最勝淨光天王……。 There were also innumerable kings of the heavens in which light is used for sound, led by 1. Pleasing Light, 2. Pure Subtle Light, 3. Sound of Freedom, 4. Supreme Awareness and Knowledge, 5. Delightful Pure Subtle Sound, 6. Sound of Skillful Meditation, 7. Universal Sound Illumining Everywhere, 8. Most Profound Light-Sound, 9. Pure Name Light, and 10. Supreme Pure Light. 如是等而為上首，其數無量，皆住廣大寂靜喜樂無礙法門。 All of them dwelt in the unhindered state of great peace, tranquility, joy, and bliss. 復有無量遍淨天王，所謂：1.清淨名稱天王、2.最勝見天王、3.寂靜德天王、4.須彌音天王、5.淨念眼天王、6.可愛樂最勝光照天王、7.世間自在主天王、8.光焰自在天王、9.樂思惟法變化天王、10.變化幢天王、11.星宿音妙莊嚴天王……。 There were also innumerable kings of the heavens of universal purity, led by such as 1. Pure Reputation, 2. Supreme Vision, 3. Virtue of Tranquility, 4. Sound of the Polar Mountain, 5. Eye of Pure Mindfulness, 8. Light Flame Sovereign, 9. Enjoyer of Meditation on the Truth and Creating Demonstrations, 10. Banner of Miraculous Displays, and 11. Exquisite Array of Constellation Sounds. 如是等而為上首，其數無量，悉已安住廣大法門，於諸世間勤作利益。 They were all already abiding securely in the great teaching, and worked diligently to benefit all worlds. 復有無量廣果天王，所謂：1.愛樂法光明幢天王、2.清淨莊嚴海天王、3.最勝慧光明天王、4.自在智慧幢天王、5.樂寂靜天王、6.普智眼天王、7.樂旋慧天王、8.善種慧光明天王、9.無垢寂靜光天王、10.廣大清淨光天王……。 There were also innumerable kings of the heavens of vast results, led by such as 1. Banner of the Delightful Light of Truth, 2. Ocean of Pure Adornments, 3. Light of Supreme Wisdom, 4. Independent Wisdom Banner, 5.Delight in Tranquility, 6. Eye of Universal Knowledge, 7. Delight in Use of intellect, 8. Light of Intellect Sown with Virtue, 9. Undefiled Tranquil Light, and 10. Vast Pure Light. 如是等而為上首，其數無量，莫不皆以寂靜之法而為宮殿安住其中。 They all dwelt at peace in the palace of tranquility. 復有無數大自在天王，所謂：1.妙焰海天王、2.自在名稱光天王、3.清淨功德眼天王、4.可愛樂大慧天王、5.不動光自在天王、6.妙莊嚴眼天王、7.善思惟光明天王、8.可愛樂大智天王、9.普音莊嚴幢天王、10.極精進名稱光天王……。 There were also countless kings of the heavens of great freedom, led by such as 1. Sea of Subtle Flames, 2. Light of the Name of Freedom, 3. Eye of Pure Virtues, 4. Enjoyable Great Intelligence, 5. Freedom of Immutable Light, 8. Great Knowledge, 9. Universal Sound Array Banner, and 10Light of Fame of Extreme Exertion. 如是等而為上首，不可稱數，皆勤觀察無相之法，所行平等。 All of them diligently contemplated the truth of formlessness, and their actions were all equanimous and impartial.
