Me: Some plays are so successful that they perform for several years. NCE: Some plays are so successful that they run for years on end.
Me: In this way, the actors are very unlucky as they have to repeat the same lyrics every night. NCE:In many ways, this is unfortunate for the poor actors who are required to go on repeating the same lines night after night.
run - to continue being performed regularly in one place lines - words that someone has to learn and say as part of a play or performance
-----In many ways
Me: We think these actors must have remembered by heart and won't be Sxxx, but this is not the case. NCE: One would expect them to know their parts by heart and never have cause to falter. Yet this is not always the case. --- We would expect them to know their parts by heart and never have cause to falter.
- stammer -口吃 he stammered most when he was nervous. -
- falter - speak haltingly - 在这强调的是说话不连贯, falter 没有口吃的意思 ---The actor faltered in the middle of the show --> 你不会用stammer
Me: There was a famous actor who performed in a very successful play as a xx role who had been in the B prison for twenty years. NCE : A famous actor in a highly successful play was once cast in the role of an aristocrat who had been imprisoned in the Bastille for twenty years. 贵族 - aristocrat in the role of…,充当……

Me: In the last scene, a xx was on the stage with a letter and handed it to the aristocrat. NCE: In the last act, a gaoler would always come on to the stage with a letter which he would hand to the prisoner.
Me: Despite of reading the letter in every performance/show, he still insisted in putting all the contents in it. NCE: Even though the noble was expected to read the letter at each performance, he always insisted that it should be written out in full.
---- insist in xxx--- insist on 1、insist on/upon (sb/one's) (doing) sth ----You should insist on your dream. ----You should insist upon doing exercise every day. ----You should insist on her apologizing to you.
---She insisted that she was right.
---She insisted (that) she had been to Beijing the year before.
---He insisted that she (should) say sorry to him first. Me: One night, the gaoler decided to make a joke with his colleague to see whether the prisoner could remember all the contents in the letter by heart after performing so many times. NCE: One night, the gaoler decided to play a joke on his colleague to find out if, after so many performances, he had managed to learn the contents of the letter by heart.记熟 -- learn the contents --- 不要总用remember ~~~~ find out --- see.....
Me: When the curtain was pulled, the last act began. The aristocrat was sitting alone behind the iron window in a dark cell. NCE: The curtain went up on the final act of the play and revealed the aristocrat sitting alone behind bars in his dark cell.

NCE: Even though the noble was expected to read the letter at each performance, he always insisted that it should be written out in full. --- 还是主动实用一些, 在现实中老美说话也不太用被动 ---- insist in xxx--- insist on 1、insist on/upon (sb/one's) (doing) sth ----You should insist on your dream. NCE: Just then, the gaoler appeared with the precious letter in his hands. He entered the cell and presented the letter to the aristocrat.
a gaoler would always come on to the stage with a letter which he would hand to the prisoner
Me: But this time the letter wasn't written anything as usual. It was simply a blank piece of paper. NCE: But the copy he gave him had not been written out in full as usual. It was simply a blank sheet of paper.
Me: The gaoler watched eagerly and wanted to know whether his colleague had learned the contents by heart. NCE: The gaoler looked on eagerly, anxious to see if his fellow actor had at last learnt his lines.
Me: The nobleman looked at it for a few seconds and then 眼珠一转 said ' It is too dark. Would you please read it to me?' and handed the letter to the gaoler. NCE: The noble stared at the blank sheet of paper for a few seconds. Then, squinting his eyes, he said: 'The light is dim. Read the letter to me'. And he promptly handed the sheet of paper to the gaoler.
Squint - abnormal alignment of one or both eyes; looking with the eyes partly closed 光线太暗 - dim is much better than dark ...
Me: The gaoler found out that he could not remember a single word and said ' Your Majesty, it is indeed too dim to read. I need to bring a pair of glasses.' NCE: Finding that he could not remember a word of the letter either, the gaoler replied: 'The light is indeed dim, sire, I must get my glasses.'
While he was speaking, he went down to the stage. What made the noble felt funny was when the gaoler was back to the stage with a pair of glasses and the regular letter, he read for the prisoner.
NCE: With this, he hurried off the stage. Much to the aristocrat's amusement, the gaoler returned a few moments later with a pair of glasses and the usual copy of the letter with he proceeded to read to the prisoner.

Gift of imperfect parenting - Chapter 9
Not as good as Screaming free parenting, but it is still worth to listen and very easy to follow. I expect I will finish this next week.
I can't believe it is almost July. My goal is far way ahead. I have passion about my current job, but at the same time more responsibility. There are a lot of room to grow... Way to go!
However, NCE3 is stuck in half way. I need to work on it start from today. Furthermore, get back to my workout schedule. Nothing can be more important than health.

I am very busy for work. I used to do not do overtime. Now all my attention and interested are works. I want to span my wheel to see how much I can do and see whether it can get what I want. This position is challenge, exciting and full of surprise. It is brand new experience for me. No matter how much I get, I believe I will learn a lot from it.
English is not as critical as before, but I will still work on it. But I will do it very slowly since many weekends will occupy by works. It is what it is. I will do whatever I can. One word or one sentence is better than nothing!

Kite Runner - Done!
It is a good story, but I don't like it. As I expected, the ending is sad. I don't like both main characters. One is selfish and one is blind royalty. The deep-rooted concept of class had embedded in both of them which I never enjoyed reading it. I have no interesting to read about the cruel of war because I can image how ugly it is. All these can only bring me anxious and nothing I can do. I'd better read something more practical and pleasant.
The following is how I feel about my trip base on NCE2 lesson 38 - Everything except the weather. It is not exactly how I feel but partial of it is true.
I had lived in America for more than a decade before I returned to China. I had often dreamed of returning in China and had planned to travel in the country within two years. Ten days ago, I finally got a chance to return for a business trip. Before arriving, I was so excited about the food. The fact was that I barely had my meal outside the hotel because of the high temperature. Almost immediately I began to complain about the weather, for even though it was in the early morning, it was hot and humid. After so many years of pleasant weather, I got a shock. I acted as if I had never lived in China before. I had hardly had time to get used to the weather when I finished the work and left the country. The dream I had had for many years ended there. I had thought of everything except the weather.
