Title:Deployment manager Location:Shanghai Position Summary: The Manager of Deployment and Itinerary Planning,China, as part of the Strategic Planning Team, is responsible for the development and refinement of Royal Caribbean cruise home-port product out of NE Asia port. This position will influence the strategic direction and financial performance through quantitative analysis and market research, creating new itineraries, partnering with N.E Asia destinations, and continually improving the way we develop and manage new itinerary products. There will be significant exposure to senior management with the opportunity to work closely with Operations, Shore Ex, Marketing, Sales, Revenue Management, International and other departments within the Company. Deployment Strategy Position, is a dynamic position which requires considerable expertise and breadth of skills and experience and plays a key role within the Deployment & Itinerary Planning team. The Manager will develop and maintain financial analyses of greater complexity and other quantitative models to guide deployment decisions. Assignments within Deployment and Itinerary Planning will typically involve quantitative and qualitative analysis of a competitive situation, development of recommendations, and written and/or oral presentation of those recommendations to Senior Management. The manager position will also be asked at times to lead and solely represent the department on various initiatives, projects, and meetings. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Communicate and collaborate internally with sales and revenue for creating the strategic deployment blocking for ships catered for China market under senior management direction. Communicate and collaborate externally with port agent, port authority and government to ensure respective berthing policy well updated and berth requests activated within the policy and timeline. Manage the relationship with port agent and port authority from berthing perspective . Lead deployment analyst and work with sales, port agent and port authority for solution establishing to berthing conflict. Oversee & review charter itinerary proposals/redeployment request to ensure cost-based financial measures are accounted for and proposals are operationally feasible. Research new destinations and itinerary options which support our brand specific strategic plans and utilize market research and guest feedback to maximize both market value and guest experience. Work with revenue and sales team and assist in presenting business cases to support the strategic and tactical deployment decisions. Development of business cases typically involve quantitative and qualitative analysis of a competitive situation by working together with revenue management team, development of recommendations, and written and/or oral presentation of those recommendations. Provide high level and product level analysis and optimization of profitability and guest satisfaction impact on all future deployment decisions. Be aware of competitive product offerings and performance as well as macroeconomic and environmental factors impacting the cruise industry. Key point of contact with departments throughout the organization to reach consensus on deployment recommendations for senior and executive management. Ability to lead and solely represent the department on various initiatives, projects, and meetings. Financial Responsibilities The Manager directly impacts all revenue streams (net ticket, onboard, and other) based on the deployment decisions made. The Manager also directly impacts overall shipboard operations expenses as itineraries drive a significant piece of onboard expense. For example, fuel expenses for a single sailing can vary by over $100K based upon the detailed itinerary planned which the Manager will directly oversee. Deployment decisions based upon the business cases developed by the Manager will impact bottom line profitability by tens of millions of dollars The Manager must understand all of these expenses and revenues in decision making. Qualifications: Bachelor¿s degree (B.S.) or (BBA.) from a four-year college or university is required MBA or Masters Degree strongly preferred 5 years cruise industry knowledge and experience is preferred. NE Asia destination knowledge is preferred. Speaking of Japanese language and background of working in Japanese port or tourism previously are preferred. Knowledge and Skills: Pro-active mindset and attitude. Must be able to think creatively. Willingness to accept immediate project responsibility. Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail is absolutely required. Demonstrated aptitude for problem solving and problem identification. Ability to logically structure quantitative analysis of complex issues. Ability to operate in a cross functional environment. Excellent interpersonal skills, and demonstrated ability to work independently and use proper judgment. Excellent written and verbal English language and overall communication. Competency of computer systems and applications is essential, with an emphasis on the ability to access and manipulate data from a variety of sources. Proficient Microsoft Office Skills: Excel (ability to perform pivots and vlookup), strong PowerPoint. Knowledge of AS400 and Essbase preferred, but not required. Brio On-Demand is required. Ability to coach team members. While performing job functions the employee is regularly required to sit, and stand, write, review and type reports, compile data, operate a pc, communicate, listen, and assess information. The employee is occasionally required to walk to the dock, ascend and descend the vessel. This position may regularly travel domestically or internationally. Visual requirement include distant, close and color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. The environment includes work inside/outside the office, travel to other offices, possibly travel domestic and international, and work in shipboard functions. A high noise level is possible if visiting shipboard or offsite locations.
