SIMONE NOBILI: I come from Castelnovo nei Monti, a town in Appennino reggiano, in the middle of nature, with woods, mountains and rivers. It’s where the famous Parmigiano cheese comes from.
PR: Is your family typically Italian? you know„,what we see on TV… big lunches, lots of cousins, etc… you know, something like we saw in the Dolce and Gabbana ad?
SIMONE NOBILI: Yes, my family is 100% Italian. We love food and dishes full of taste. It’s exactly like the Dolce e Gabbana campaign: lunch and dinner are a ritual, part of out Italian culture, just like in the South. The grandmothers still make hand-made pasta, cakes, bread made in the wood stove… They still cook with passion.
PR: Speaking of pasta, which one is your favorite?
SIMONE NOBILI: Spaghetti with fresh tomatoes, fresh caprino cheese and basil.
PR: 2011 was a great year for you! You did the most prestigious campaigns! And you shot with absolute legends - Giselle, Mariacarla, Monica Bellucci, Bianca Balti! Did you learn anything new from working with them?
SIMONE NOBILI: First of all, it’s beautiful to be able to work with and meet the people who are a myth for many. There’s a lot to learn from these people because they’re the ones who made it in the business. But the most important thing I learned is how to relate to them, and how to overcome my shyness.
PR: Is the atmosphere on the shoot different with such big stars on the set? Are you more confident when you’re next to them, or is it easier to be the only person in front of the camera?
SIMONE NOBILI: You can certainly feel the presence of big stars on he set. It can be felt because they are very charismatic. Personally, I find it more exciting to be working with big names, but it is more stimulating to be alone in front of the camera, because all the attention is directed at me, and I create a certain synergy with the photographer.
PR: How would you describe your style?
SIMONE NOBILI: I dress the way I like. I must say it does not appeal to everyone, but I like it.
PR: You were a brand new face just one year ago! Your success was unusually fast! What are the main reasons for this, in your opinion?
SIMONE NOBILI: Firstly, there were different people who believed in me and pushed me a lot. Then there was my ambition, my calmness and my simplicity that helped me a great deal. Finally, luck was on my side.
PR: Did you do any showrooms before all this buzz? Do you still do them?
SIMONE NOBILI: Yes, I did many showrooms, and it’s a boring job, but it has been very helpful, in order to become patient and understand some commercial aspects of fashion. When it’s required, I will go back to doing showrooms without a problem.
PR: You booked both D&G and Dolce and Gabbana… the campaigns were very different. For you, as the face of both collections, how are they different?
SIMONE NOBILI: I find them very different in terms of style, concept and overall intention. I found it very satisfying to be able to be in both campaigns and wear clothes that I like a lot.
PR: You said in one interview that you are: “I’m introverted, solitary and strange” (quote). Are you a scorpio? :)
SIMONE NOBILI: I’m a Cancer, Scorpio ascendant. When people find out about it, the first thing they say is “Help!”
PR: It’s not bad being mysterious, is it?
SIMONE NOBILI: I find people with something mysterious about their personality very attractive. Maybe I’m a bit mysterious too, but I should ask others about it.
PR: How do you stay in shape?

In my free time I practice different sports, like cycling, swimming, running and gym. I don’t see it as a duty, it’s more of a pleasure, because other than doing me good physically, I feel benefits on the psychological level, because it keeps me relaxed.
