盒子训练法
English is a habit, not knowledge. You don’t have time to carefully think of your response before you answer. You don’t have time to translate things in your head. You have to speak reflexively. Don’t think: Do.
The Flashcard Technique: This exercise will help you deal with “real life,” English by forcing you to react to situations where you must speak English.
1. Get a box. Write “Subjects,” on it. Write ten different subjects on little pieces of paper and put the papers into the Subjects Box.
2. Get another box. Write “Verbs,” on it. Write ten different verbs on ten little pieces of paper and put the papers into the Verbs Box.
3. Randomly take a word from each box (He/Develop) and make a sentence with it.
4. Make sentences quickly. Don’t think. Just speak. Focus on fluency and speed. Don’t worry so much about accuracy.
5. You should record yourself.

JingJing: Today on our show we have a special guest, Greg, AKA Xiao Gao! Welcome!
XiaoGao: Thanks, it’s a pleasure to be here.
JingJing: So you’re gonna give us some tips about mastering a new language? We can’t wait to hear them!
XiaoGao: Well, I hope that these tips will at least put you on the right track. My first tip is to lay a good foundation for pronunciation. I recommend everyone study the International Phonetic Alphabet.
JingJing: I agree it’s really important. What if the student doesn’t have a foreign language partner? Can they still learn pronunciation well?
XiaoGao: Absolutely! All a student needs are some books that come with an audio cd. Then they can repeat what they hear out loud.
JingJing: Great! Any more tips?
XiaoGao: I also recommend that students do a lot of writing. Writing really helps people grasp a strong sense of the language. If the student writes a little bit in a diary every day, it will help them greatly。
JingJing: Do you have any tips for students to help them get their head around the cultural differences between two languages?
XiaoGao: As you can probably guess, the best thing is to make foreign friends. If you don’t have time to do that, then watching a bit of TV will definitely help. It’s fun too!
所谓的4S黄金法则是谢老师独创的4个口语素材的准备步奏,从单词到句子再到段落,从基础到高级
《沙漠之花/ Desert Flower》这部电影是根据出生在索马里的黑人模特Waris Dirie的个人自传改编而成的电影。Waris Dirie的童年异常的艰难,出生在索马里沙漠的她用非凡的勇气反抗生活的压迫和不公,最终成为了世界顶级名模。
这部电影就属于“A foreign movie based on real person or event recently watched”。
I truly think this is an amazing movie.”
造作的表达方式:“This is that kind of movie which I think is incredibly wonderful to watch. ”
第一句话简洁自然,适合口语交流。第二句话矫揉造作,就像在演戏,考官毫无疑问会更喜欢第一种表达方式。如果你通篇都是第二种句型,你的口语分数是绝不会突破6分的。
attention please!!!!!!!!!口语的素材,其流畅、自然、适合表达是最根本的原则,任何过于热衷炫技的考生都会适得其反,并在词汇及语法的accuracy这一项被扣分。
大家只需要说出一些给你留下深刻影响的片段即可。或者大家也可以只说开头、转折、发展及结果这四个点,每个点用一句话说明即可,这样会有很好的概括效果。首先大家可以看看以下四句话的剧情:
A Book\ Movie
Desert Flower is an autobiographical book published in 1998, it is about the life of famous Somali model, Waris Dirie. In 2009, the book was adapted into a movie, which is also called the Desert Flower. It is directed by Sherry Horman. Produced by Peter Herrmann and Benjamin Herrmann, the supermodel Liya Kebede plays Waris. It is not a blockbuster, but it is very deep. It was awarded by the German Film Award. The story of the book and the movie is similar and both of them are amazing.
Song\ Singer
I loved a lot of songs, but one song did give me a deep impression, as it is very meaningful, its name is Let's Stick Together, it was performed by Slackwax and Anna Leyne, it is an original sound track from The Dessert Flower.
The song is a typical modern style song.
I like the song very much is because that it suits the mood of the movie and Waris Dirie’s spirit very well, Waris was having a horrible life and it was a painful life, but she never gives up, never gives in, and I was totally encouraged by her, when the song was on in the film, it came up in the right place and the right time.
Plot
1. Waris Dirie was born in Somalia in 1965.At the age of thirteen, she fled her family in order to escape an arranged marriage to a man about 60 years old.
2. She landed in London and worked for wealthy relatives, later as well as a local McDonald's, after the closure of the Somalian Embassy because of the war that had broken out in her country.
3. By chance, Waris was discovered by a photographer, who helped her to become the cover a Calendar.
4. From there, her modeling career took off.
Personal feeling
1. I was so inspired by the story, because she went through all the darkness and shadows in her life, but she never gave up.
2. When she looked back, she views this black period as the gift that helped her to be stronger.
3. I want to be as strong as her, you know, being able to conquer the hardship in your life.
4. When you think about it, she can go through all these things and still become successful, the hardship in your life is really small comparing with them.
3.练习题目:
A Book You Would Recommend
A Meaningful Song
A Popular Band or Singer
A Film About a Real Person or Event
Sentence Structure:
When I (did sth), [SVO] <- [SVO] = Subject Verb Object
When I (do sth), [SVO]
Chunks for When I (did sth), [SVO]
When I got back, I called my mom
When I called my mom, I told her I missed her
Chunks for When I (do sth), [SVO]
When I get back, I call my mom
When I call my mom, she tells me to get married.
Understanding how a sentence structure is used is the essential point you need to focus on. Not grammar. You can pull sentence structures from television. Watch a TV show and listen/read what they are saying. If you see an interesting way to express something, then write it down and discuss it with me. We can turn it into a sentence structure that you can use. Then you can practice it until you are fluent.
