地道表达法——“人物”
前几期的地道表达法讲解中，我们学习了关于“图表写作”的一些短语和搭配，从这一期开始，小编会带着大家看看与“人物”有关的一些表达法。

注释：
of someone’s own accord: 主动去做某事
if you do something of your own accord, you do it without being asked to do it.
说到主动做某事，我们比较容易想到active。do something actively, play an active role in doing something, etc. 其实我们也可以用of someone’s own accord，表示自愿去做、主动去做。
Whether we keep our word will play a huge part in who we are in the future.
我们是否遵守承诺会在很大程度上决定我们以后会成为什么样的人。
注释：
keep someone’s word: 守信
When you keep something such as a promise or an appointment, you do what you said you would do.
keep一次本身有“信守”的意思，即按照自己说的去做，所以有keep someone’s promise，指“信守诺言”。而word一词，除了指单词，也指话语、诺言，可以在这个词组中替代promise，表“守信”。
If you give your word, you make a sincere promise to someone.
Do you think it is possible to be friends with someone if you never meet them in person?
你认为自己是否有可能与从未见过面的人成为朋友呢？

meet someone in person: 与某人见面
in person: [of someone] actually physically present in a place rather than appearing in a film, on a television or computer screen, on a telephone, or through a radio broadcast.
in person指的是“亲自”，meet someone in person也就是指亲自与某人见面，需要你本人到场，而不是通过视频等方式见面。
This was great for me as I travel a lot, meeting people from all walks of life, and I’ve never had any trouble getting along with them.
这对我来说太好了，因为我经常旅游，结识来自各行各业的人，而我与他们相处时从未遇到过什么问题。

The walk of life that you come from is the position that you have in society and the kind of job you have.

事情可能在一夜之间改变；你可能一夜暴富，也可能一夜之间就一贫如洗。

Rags are old torn clothes. Riches are valuable possessions or large amounts of money.
rag指破布、抹布，rags指破烂的衣服，衍伸出来也就是指陷入赤贫。rich指富有的，而riches指大笔的财富，拥有大笔的财富当然就是非常富有了。go from rags to riches即指从赤贫到富有，而go riches to rags则指从富有到赤贫。

Most overnight successes actually take years.
大多数的一夜成名实际上都要有很多年的沉淀。

an overnight success: 一夜成名的人或事物
You can say that something happens overnight when it happens very quickly and unexpectedly.
overnight从字面上理解是过了一夜，一夜之间就发生了变化，也就是指“突然的，快速的”。an overnight success也就是指一夜成名。
