形容词用法的名词
1.这种情况多数可以改为介词＋名词的形式：
his life story－－－the story of his life
this grammar book－－－this book on grammar
a corner table－－－a table (designed for) a corner
* 有些会动的东西，临时呆在角落，不能如此用：
"a corner cat" is wrong.
* 有些词不可替换：
consumer goods, a welfare state.
* 有时候意义不一样：
a glass of wine, a wine glass/ a box of matches, a match box
* 这些词听力时多把重音放在两个词上：
'gold 'coin, 'back 'garden
* 有时可用and, or 与形容词并用：
the postal and telephone services, daily or evening papers.
* 有时与代词one一起用：
I wanted a wool tie but my wife prefered a silk one.
* 有时会用副词来修饰形容词用法的名词：
   for merely security reasons,
   a purely family gathering
* 【形容词用法的名词＋名词】还可以用一个名词来修饰：
     the London County Council
* 【形容词用法的名词＋名词】可当成一个词，于词尾家-ist之类的结尾词：
    trade unionist
* 【形容词用法的名词＋名词】欲改写时，可加字根于字首来变化：
    demonstrations against the war－－－anti-war demonstrations.
2. 形容词用法的名词表示的意思
* 时间：
   winter sports, summer holidays, sunday papers, November fogs
* 场所：
   city hall, country lanes, a corener shop, a kitchen table, roof garden.
* 目的，机能：
   a tennis court, a nail-scissors, anews agency, traffic lights.
* 种类，材料：
   a love story, a truck driver, a plastic cup.
* 状态的叙述：
   a giant corporation, a master mind, a baby car, a pocket dictionary, sister cities.
