几本旧植物学用书

收留的植物学用书渐渐垒了一摞,做个小结。 1. <Teach Yourself Botany> by John H. Elliott, 1958 edition, 1961 impression. A Basic Outline Of The Scope Of Botany. Don't like the writing. Very dry.

2. <A Text-Book of Botany> By J.M. Lowson, 1910, fifth edition ,seventh Impression The University tutorial series. Four previouse owner have signed. Note mark through out the whole book.

The text is divided into five parts: General, The Angiosperm, Vascular Cryptogams and Flowering Plants, The Lower Cryptogams and Additional Natural Orders, with ten pages of test questions.


Elegant b/w illustrations that you would expect from a book of this vintage.

3. <Elements of Plant Biology> By A. G. Tansley .1922 first edition first print.


Sir Arthur George Tansley was an English botanist and a pioneer in the science of ecology.Tansley taught at Oxford, where he served as Sherardian Professor of Botany until his retirement in 1937, was a pioneer of the science of ecology in Britain, being heavily influenced by the work of Danish botanist Eugenius Warming, and introduced the concept of the ecosystem into biology.
