它们最主要的区别是simile一般含有比喻词如like, as, seem, as if ,as though。
Whistling andmoaning, a 50-mile-an-hour wind whipped among the telescope domes atop Kitt Peak.A few feet below, turning gray in the dusk, slid a river of clouds that hadbeen rising and dropping all day. High above, comet Hale- Bopp hung like afeathery fishing lure, its tail curving off a bit, as if blown to the side bythe punishing wind. One by one, stars winked on in a darkening sky. Nearby, wild horses wandered past. They never glanced skyward at the gossamer swath ofHale-Bopp nor at the wondrous spectacle that is the night sky on a clear night, comet or no.
whistling andmoaning: personification
a river of clouds: metaphor
like a featheryfishing lure: simile
stars winked: personification
horses neverglanced: personification
gossamer swath: metaphor
所以,如果问你,what is the rhetorical device featured inthis passage?
