二度打工于互联网公司的我今晚淋鸡一动，想着，那就从“互联网+、大数据”的角度赏析赏析我们张伯香老先生主编的这本《英美文学选读/ Selected Readings in English and American Literatures》吧。╮(╯▽╰)╭
首先，让我们来看看这本书的结构。

别看它一本书这么厚，总共689页，其实它才八个章节呢。虽然它分了八章，然而人家只讨论两个部分哦。一个是English Literature 另一个是American literature。 如果你们单纯地以为E和A部分是五五开，那你们就too simple，sometimes naive了。因为八章里有5个章节都是在讲English Literature，抛开开头的古代英语和中世纪英语文学的简略介绍部分，剩下的部分分别是 The Renaissance Period, the Neoclassical Period, the Romantic Period, the Victorian Period 和 the Modern Period。所以在American Literature 里就各章节非常简便地被划分为 the Romantic Period, the Realistic Period 和 the Modern Period 了。
好了，介绍完这本书的大致情况，那就让我们再看看这本书都详细介绍哪些作家。
看目录我们能发现这本书着重介绍了48位文学家。而且Bronte三姐妹们被无情地压缩到了一个小单元里，因此，其实这本书其实着重介绍了50位英语文学巨匠。虽然在EL部分主要介绍了35位文学家
，可这并不代表他们都属于 United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland 的国籍哦。其中James Joyce就属于爱尔兰国籍，所以严格来讲EL部分只有34名英国人。话虽如此，原本作为美国公民的Henry James为了表达对美国参加一战却落败而归的不满，（原文p495 “ … so he settled down in London in 1876, and in 1915 he became a naturalized British citizen, largely in protest against American’s failure to join England in the First World War.”）而转投了英国的怀抱。

不过以上数据也能从侧面反映出从前的女性无！人！权！书里就有讲因为性别歧视Austen发表小说的时候是匿名发表（p222“ Her works later published anonymously due to the prejudice against women writers then.”）。Mary Ann Evans 干脆就女扮男装以 George Eliot 的艺名出道。虽然书里没有讲Bronte姐妹们是否遭到性别歧视，但我们仍能从书中短短的两句话里感受到文学巨匠在成名前的心酸遭遇（“p255 In 1845, at Charlotte’s initiative, a volume of poetry entitled Poems by Currer, Ellis and Acton Bell was published at their own expense. It received little attention.”）。更绝的是 Emily Dickinson的作品直接就是posthumously 出版（p517 After her death in 1886, her poems were discovered by her sister Lavinia.）。从上看出相较于英语国家的女性，我国古代女性地位其实还是相对较高的，毕竟我们很早以前就有女皇武则天，有宋代女词人李清照。
最后，这篇文章就是我洗澡的时候突发奇想，想着花拳绣腿一番。然额本人也就几年前为了自考英语才看的这本书，书里的内容早就七七八八得忘得差不多了，所以书评里可能会出一些不妥的地方，如果有还请批评指正，谢谢~
