Welcome to the second edition of Open Data Shanghai !
Open Data Shanghai is a data-focused hackathon where participants will be given datasets and 24 hours to "hack it". For people who are new to Data Science, there will also be educational talks by experienced data analysts.

上海开放数据日是一个关注数据的黑客马拉松活动，参加者将在给定的数据集合和24个小时内"hack it"。富有经验的数据分析者的演讲对那些不熟悉Data Science的人来说也非常有教育意义。
                
                
The hackathon will provide participants with a diverse range of datasets. There will be a lot of data relevant to China. Different formats of data including: data-points, text, geolocation, images etc... the dataset is adequate for both beginners into data science, and more experienced programmers.

Data Science Talks:
For the talks, we will also have data analysts sharing their experience with different phases of the data science process.
Session Topics
- Event Introduction, Ricky
- "Deep Learning Case Study". A high level discussion about what we can do with deep learning, how good is it, and present a case study about Nature Conservancy and its efforts to use image recognition to distinguish different types of tuna caught by commercial fishing boats (the data set is posted on an ongoing kaggle competition). - Jerry Liu
-"Word embeddings". why and how to use them in Neural Networks". Practical examples how to transform text data and feed your neural network. - Bartlomiej Grasza
-"Libraries for data visualization". I'll show you practical use cases of the libraries for data visualization that I've used the most during my Data Analyst career. From different 'must-have' chart libraries to great interactive map visualizations.. -Miguel Fernandez (GoGoVan)
Additional talks by Frederic Bazin (Cloverise) on Pandas, Stephane Vernede (enwise.io) on IoT data.
