【J2签证申请/更新EAD】材料清单和申请进度表

我最近以J2身份申请了EAD卡，用时两个半月。跟大家分享一下申请经验，给有需要的小伙伴参考。 材料清单—— 我用的是我老公学校官网上给出来的材料清单如下。但是我朋友的亲身经验告诉我，结婚证+翻译件也是必需材料！如果不一起寄过去的话，review case的时候会要求你补交，一来一回非常花时间！

Step by step的guideline这里就不放了，网上一搜一大把。 进度表—— 2016/12/27 寄出材料到所在州对应的USCIS Office 2016/12/28 材料Delivered 2017/01/10 收到短信通知Message of Receipt number 2017/01/13 Updated I-765 delivered to wrong office (悲催地发现I-765表格内重要信息有误，当时问了第一位客服说可以不用等I-797直接补寄改正材料，所以直接寄出去了最初提交材料的Office，最后发现被这个客服坑了，不能寄到原Office！！详情往后看) 2017/01/15 收到I-797表格 I-797C received 2017/01/17 电话申请加急，理由severe financial loss，表示可以提供offer letter来证明。这位（第二位）客服给了我一个case number说五个工作日会联系我。同时问了说如果申请材料有误想要修正，应该要寄到service center (I-797表格上标注的地址)，而不是初次寄材料的Office——如果寄到了最初提交材料的Office，则有可能被当成另一个独立的case！ 2017/01/18 加急申请被拒（收到邮寄过来的拒信），理由莫名奇妙，说CPT/OPT等项目的学生在读期间要有足够的生活费，offer letter不符合USCIS关于severe financial loss的理由。 2017/01/18 寄出Updated I-765，顺便寄出去【结婚证+翻译件】 （之前使用的check list里并不包括结婚证，是从朋友处得知结婚证也是必须材料，所以顺道补交） 到service center 2017/01/23 Updated I-765和【结婚证+翻译件】delivered to Service center 2017/01/26 case status 更新，显示Correspondence Was Received And USCIS Is Reviewing It。 2017/01/31 收到EAD拒信，吓个半死，仔细看发现拒绝的是我寄错地址的那份 I-765 表格 （如第二位客服所说，被当成了独立的case受理。因材料不足被拒绝。幸亏不影响首次申请的case） 2017/03/13 收到approve letter,显示审核通过日期是3/8 (case status依旧显示reviewing,状态未同步) 2017/03/15 case status 变更为”Card Was Mailed To Me” 2017/03/18 收到邮寄过来的工卡 Q&A—— 以下几个问题是我申请前特别想知道，但是找了各种地方都没有找到答案的。 1. 申请EAD时，是否一定要身在美国？ 我找我司移民专员了解的情况是：需要以J2身份入境，因为I-94表格上会显示你的status。递交材料之后，EAD申请期间是否允许回国，并没有硬性规定。 2. EAD审核通过后是否需要打指纹？ 我和朋友的申请都没有要求打指纹，有可能这一项已经取消了。 3. EAD时长多久？ 之前一直听人说是一年，但我的EAD是两年（我的J2 status是三年），我朋友的是18个月（他的J2 status还剩一年半）。我的理解是EAD 时长已经延长到两年，但如果J2 status已经不足两年的，则以J2 Status时限为准。 Tips—— 1. 没事多问客服。虽然有的时候会误导你，但是每次问他们都会得到新的讯息。 2. 提交材料里会有照片这一项，一般要求是3个月内近照。所以请务必使用和护照页不一样的照片，原因是case审核的时候看到你照片和护照页一样，有可能打回来让你重新照相。我朋友遇到了这种情况。 3. 如果I-765表格有错误需要更新，千万不要寄到原始材料的Office，而是应该寄到I-797表格上列示的service center, 因为那个才是真正处理你case的部门。同时，千万不要另附一份I-765表格，只需要写明要修正哪些信息即可（顺附我当时寄过去的correct requirement如下——别喷说为啥我搞错了这么多信息，一言难尽好嘛） Require to Update the I-765 Form and Add the Marriage Certificate (Receipt Number XXXXXXXX) Dear Officer, I am XXXXX and I am applying for employment authorization on the basis of my J-2 status. Receipt Number XXXXXX. I sincerely apologize that I have to update some important information for the application materials I mailed to you before. Firstly, I made some vital mistakes in the I-765 form, for which I list details of correction as below. Previous information (please refer to the actual form for accurate information): 10. Alien Registration Number (A-Number) of Form I-94 Number (if any) XXXXXXXX 12. Date of Last Entry into U.S., on or about (mm/dd/yyyy) XXXXXXXXX 13. Place of Last Entry into the U.S. XXXXXXXX 14. Status at Last Entry (B-2 Visitor, F-1 Student, No Lawful Status, etc.) XXXXXXX Correct information: 10. Alien Registration Number (A-Number) of Form I-94 Number (if any) XXXXXXXX 12. Date of Last Entry into U.S., on or about (mm/dd/yyyy) XXXXXXXX 13. Place of Last Entry into the U.S. XXXXXXXX 14. Status at Last Entry (B-2 Visitor, F-1 Student, No Lawful Status. Etc.) XXXXXXXX Secondly, I attach a copy of marriage certificate and its English translation certificated by a qualified translator for your reference, since I was told by USCIS customer representative that marriage certificate is also required for J-2 dependents to apply Employment Authorization. EAD更新（Renew）

11/6/2018 寄出所有材料（与EAD申请时使用的材料完全一样，只是更新了一下J1的2019表格，未换照片）；

11/8/2018 Case Status 显示 Case Was Received，Will send you notice, 支票被扣款；

11/20/2018 收到Receive notice。上面说对于某些类别的申请者如果EAD新卡在旧卡到期前仍未弄好，该notice将作为EAD旧卡到期日起自动续期180天的凭证，可以向雇主出示。根据链接查了一下，J2不在这类申请者之内。

1/17/2019 电话USCIS（打Receive notice上的电话），客服告知case正在处理中，总体处理时间为“3.5 months-5.5months”, 瞬间急了，要求加急。客服帮忙开了加急请求，说5days内有人通过mail/e-mail联系。

1/22/2019 收到email，说case正在处理，一般30days之内会处理完毕，届时如果还没申请下来请再联系。邮件原文“The expediting of a case allows it to be sent quickly to an officer for adjudication. However, your case is currently under review by an officer. Most applicants receive a decision or correspondence within 30 days, although most individuals receive their document earlier. Please contact us again if you do not receive notification or other correspondence within the 30 day time frame. ”

中间休假回了趟中国（即，中途回国不影响EAD办理）；

2/5/2019 Case Status 显示 New Card Is Being Produced；

2/15/2019或更早（当时在休假，不清楚具体是哪一天寄到的）收到approval notice；

2/27/2019 Case Status 显示 Card Was Mailed To Me；

3/4/2019 收到卡 （距离我的旧卡过期日只剩3天，含泪感谢上帝。。。）

第二次EAD更新（Renew）

4/12/2019 寄出所有材料（与EAD申请时使用的材料完全一样，只是更新了一下J1的2019表格，未换照片）；此次选择了填Form G-1450用信用卡付款；

4/18/2019 信用卡被扣款；Case Status 显示 Case Was Received

6/7/2019 电话USCIS（打Receive notice上的电话），直接要求加急。客服帮忙开了加急请求，说5days内有人通过mail/e-mail联系。

6/11/2019 加急申请被拒（收到邮寄过来的拒信），理由莫名奇妙，说CPT/OPT等项目的学生在读期间要有足够的生活费，offer letter不符合USCIS关于severe financial loss的理由。

7/23/2019 Case status 依旧没有动静（显示 Case Was Received），在加急申请被拒的邮件上做了回复，要求重审加急请求——没人回复，呵呵呵呵……

8/5/2019 接着打电话骚扰客服……说USCIS正在处理截止到3/8/2019收到的case （也就是说有case还差3天就5个月了，不超过processing time才怪！），意思就是——处理我的（4/15/2019送达）还早着呢！

8/15/2019 Case Status 显示 New Card Is Being Produced

8/16/2019 Case Status 显示 Case Was Approved.

8/19/2019 Case Status 显示 Card Was Mailed To Me

8/22/2019 收到卡
