《查令十字街84号》中英文对照学习笔记1
今天开始对照阅读《查令十字街84号》的中英文版，在这里做一个学英语的笔记，希望自己能坚持下去。
英文版1-6页：
out-of-print books: 绝版书
antiquarian: 古旧的，古董的
grimy： 污秽的，肮脏的
pressing：紧急的，迫切的

……不是很容易（找）：……is not going to be so easy
把它放进我用水果箱权充的书架里，实在太委屈它。
The book is so fine it embarrasses my orange-crate booksheves.
我捧着它，生怕污损它那些细致的皮装封面和米黄色的厚实内页。——I'm almost afraid to handle such soft vellum and heavy cream-colored pages.
hereafter:今后
我连简单的美金加减都一塌糊涂了，要我把英镑换算成美金真是阿弥陀佛。——I don't add too well in plain American, I haven't a prayer of ever mastering bilingual arithmetic.(not have a prayer of doing something:to have no chance of succeeding )
