英语笔记：谁的责任
今天一大早，接到主管的任务，要马上翻译一份公司文件，我以最快的速度完成。但不久就被主管找了过去，原来，让我漏看了一个单词，差之毫厘，谬之千里，让我把意思给翻错了。这下，可糗大了。
原文：
WHOMSOEVER IS THE APPLICANT OF THE SAID SBLC, WE SHALL NOT HOLD THEM RESPONSIBLE IN ANY WAY ONCE THE SAID SBLC HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED AND THAT THE FEES PAID TO THE APPLICANT ARE NOT REFUNDABLE.
我的翻译：
无论SBLC的开证申请人是谁，一旦前述SBLC成立且付给开证申请人的费用无法退回，我们将不承担任何责任。
We shall not hold THEM responsible in .... 我漏看了them，意思就大相径庭了。见如下：
hold someone accountable (for something) and hold someone responsible (for something)
to consider someone responsible for something; to blame something on someone.
1.I hold you accountable for John's well-being.
2.I must hold you responsible for the missing money.

因此，这里应该翻译成“我们将不会让他们（开证申请人）承担任何责任”。
