1、 通才能更适应现代工作环境

A well-rounded education can help individuals to adapt to a changing working environment. In the past, painters merely needed to study art subjects, such as painting and sketch; but now, with the advent of computers, an artist in a digital era not only need to learn those art subjects, but also a wide range of computer skills like computer-aided design.

通识教育可以帮助个人适应不断变化的工作环境。在过去，画家只需要学习艺术科目，例如油画和素描；但现在，随着电脑技术的出现，数码时代的艺术家不但仍需学习上述艺术科目，他们还应当掌握电脑辅助设计有等众多电脑技能。

Getting exposure to a well-rounded education can put learners in an advantageous position in many aspects. It is well acknowledged that a versatile person is often more competitive in job-hunting and more welcome in life. For example, students who have been in charge of a class or a club show better leadership in the workplace; dancing skills or beautiful calligraphy often could draw attention from colleagues in a gala event, and one with cooking skills may work with more friends in a pot luck.

Focusing on their favourite/ preferred subjects can indeed help students obtain/ secure a decent job. Students who choose to receive a full education aim to prepare themselves for their future careers. Accordingly, these students need to focus on those courses which can provide them with a competitive advantage in the job market. For example, it is meaningless for programmers to run fast or draw well; instead, they should take part in lessons that help them write code efficiently. Thus, it is sensible for students to engage in those courses that help/ enable them to find jobs more easily.
