Yuanbao of Guangxu, one of the currency circulating in Guangxu period of Qing Dynasty. Zhang Zhidong, governor of Guangdong and Guangxi, took the lead in introducing the British coinage machine to make silver and copper coins, and then the provinces followed suit. A total of 19 provinces and bureaus cast copper coins. In addition to the central household and local provinces, the names of provinces are engraved on the upper edge of the front.
In 1894 A.D. (the 20th year of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty), Hubei Wuchang silver yuan manufacturing bureau began to cast "Hubei Guangxu silver yuan treasure" according to the silver yuan pattern made in Guangdong Province.

There are inscriptions on the front of the collection, regular script "made in Hubei Province" on the top, currency value "Dang Shi" on the bottom, and four characters "Guangxu Yuanbao" in the center, with Manchu characters on the left and right. On the back of the collection, the inner ring is cast with dragon flying totem, and the outer ring is cast with English, which is exquisite in appearance and unique in aesthetic style. Although the coin is small, it can also have a glimpse of the social culture at that time.
"Guangxu Yuanbao" is called the treasure of silver coins in the field of currency collection, which is the product of the combination of Manchu and Han culture. Because Manchu people ruled the world at that time, Guangxu Yuanbao also combined some cultural factors of Manchu people. It is worth noting that the reverse of this coin is inclined to the lower right corner as a whole, which is a wrong version of inverted dragon, with few existence, thick slurry and excellent appearance.
Because the Guangxu Yuanbao and the Qing copper coins in the late Qing Dynasty all adopted various dragon shapes as the reverse pictures, and the Dragon shapes changed in various ways. As the descendants of the dragon, many copper lovers were more and more partial to the late Qing copper coins.
