如何通过读外刊积累新颖地道的英文表达？
在英文写作的时候我们总是会有这样的苦恼：为什么我一个大学生写英文用的还是我小学时候学过的表达？为什么我的英文没有英国或是美国味儿？为什么我写英文似乎都是在做中英翻译？

说的这个意思，我们一般会想到solution这个词，还有没有其他词也可以表达呢？且看下文：
Makers of animal-free products aims to revolutionise the very idea of meat-but is their hi-tech approach really the answer?
这是《卫报》（The Guardian）一篇讨论人造肉制品能否解决环境问题的文章，上面这句话是导语。有没有在其中找到一个单词是表达“解决办法”的意思呢？
是的，就是那个我们熟悉的不能再熟悉的answer，我们来看一下Collins的解释：
在这里“an answer to…is…”就是“解决某事的办法是…”。
比如，有人认为禁止私家车通行可以缓解城市交通，但我认为这并不是解决的办法。

environmental footprint是一个环境术语，也可以叫做ecological footprint，我们再来看看Wikipedia对它的解释：

比如，几乎所有人都认为环境保护刻不容缓。The near-universal agreement among people is that environmental protection is pressing.
这里的“良方”应该是指“有效的解决方案”，我们一起来看一看下面的文字，来找一找学习英语的“良方”：

silver bullet是一个固定搭配，我们来看辞典解释：

比如在讲到如何处理犯罪问题，在反驳监狱能有效控制犯罪时，就可以说：Prison actually is not silver bullet for controlling crime.
这一段中提到了践行不同程度的素食主义的人的英文表达：
Vegan: a person who refrains from using any animal product whatever for food, clothing, or any other purpose (严格素食主义者)
Vegetarian: someone who is vegetarian never eats meat or fish. (素食主义者)
Flexitarian: a person who eats mainly vegetarian food but eats meat occasionally （弹性素食主义者）

在文章作者看来，素食并不一定环保。
