冥想（六）
Ramana曾努力尝试做一个普通男孩，但他的努力徒劳无用，最终他离开家，来到Tiruvannamalai，这是一个古老的希瓦朝圣圣地。他在那里度过了余生，在Arunachala山附近，他声称与之有着神秘的联系。
在他觉醒后的最初几年里，Ramana似乎失去了说话的能力，据说他开始对变形意识的体验高度专注，以至于有一次他一动不动地待了好几天。他的身体变得虚弱，开始有了一些伤痛，不得不由少数对他感兴趣的当地人照顾。经过十年的沉默，大约在1906年，Ramana开始进行关于意识本质的对话。直到他的生命结束，源源不断的学生来和他一起学习。这就是他所说的那些话：
头脑是一束思想。思想之所以产生，是因为有思考者。思考者是自我（ego）。自我（ego），如果被寻求，就会自动消失。
The mind is a bundle of thoughts. The thoughts arise because there is thethinker. The thinker is the ego. The ego, if sought, will automatically vanish.
没有了自我（ego），实际情况和真实面貌也就呈现了出来。通过对本体身份的寻求来摧毁自我（ego）。自我（ego）是虚幻的，不是一个实体，它会自动消失，这时候现实就会自己发光。这是直接的方法，然而所有其他方法都没有希望，只留下自我（ego）。不需要sadhanas（精神实践）来完成这个探索。
Reality is simply the loss of the ego. Destroy the ego by seeking itsidentity. Because ego is no entity it will automatically vanish and realityshine forth by itself. This is the direct method, whereas all other methods aredone, only retaining the ego……No sadhanas [spiritual practices] are necessaryfor engaging in this quest.
没有什么比这更神秘的了，那就是作为一个现实存在去寻求获得现实。我们认为，有些东西掩盖了我们的现实，必须在实现现实之前加以摧毁。这太荒谬了。新的一天会到来，你会对自己过去的努力而感到好笑。在你笑的那一天，也会出现在这里和现在。
There is no greater mystery than this--that being the reality we seek to gainreality. We think that there is something hiding our reality and that it mustbe destroyed before the reality is gained. It is ridiculous. A day will dawnwhen you will yourself laugh at your past efforts. That which will be on theday you laugh is also here and now.
