2) many domestic cats have a strong hunting instinct
3) solitary predators that consume small prey —— eating multiple small meals a day
4) prefer to eat often and alone
5) Their prey is of low caloric density

家庭饲育方式容易出现的问题：
1） Obesity-related problems
· feeding one or two large meals at a single feeding station can lead to inactivity and even distress, often resulting in overconsumption and obesity.
· Modern pet food is highly palatable and easy to eat rapidly
· excessive calorie intake and obesity.
· Overweight cats have more difficulty performing physical activities such as jumping, climbing, hunting and playing, exacerbating the obesity problem.
2） Stress-related problems：Unsuccessful stress-related coping behaviors, especially in multi-cat households, such as lengthy intervals between litter box uses, may result in or aggravate illnesses such as cystitis
家庭饲育方式的改善：
Engaging the cat’s predatory, foraging and play behaviors to meet its environmental needs with puzzle feeders and multiple small meals reduces inactivity, anxiety and obesity.
1）使用慢食碗（Puzzle feeders）：可购买或自制
2）更换食物地点或设置采食难度，同时训练猫觅食的能力。
3）Frequent small meals
4）Use of elevated space when physical health allows
5）Separate water stations
6）Regular weight monitoring to ensure adequate food consumption
