卡罗莱纳的讲述
-WHAT CAROLINA SAYS-
When I was 7 years old I was first diagnosed with amblyopia, and now I am 37 years old.
When I was a child the optometrist told me that I coudn’t wear glasses because there was too much difference in prescription between my eyes, and I was going to feel very bad, so he prescribed hard contact lenses.
我在7岁的时候，被诊断出弱视。现在我37岁。
我发现弱视时，医生说我双眼度数差别太大，不能戴框架眼镜，否则会很不舒服。所以，医生给我配了硬性隐形眼镜。
It was terrible; the hard contact lenses were very uncomfortable, and I also had to wear a patch at school. I was the strange girl at the school who had to write at a higher table because of my bad vision, and I also had learning problems. The patch did not make life easy at school because of the patch, so I made the decision to remove the patch at school and to wear it only at home.
硬性隐形眼镜戴起来很不舒服，而且上学时我还得戴眼罩，真的很痛苦。在学校里，我看起来像是一个怪女孩。因为视力不好，我的桌子比其他人都高。学习对我是一件困难的事情。眼罩也让我的在校生活，变得很不容易。因此，我决定只在家里戴眼罩，到学校就摘下来。
I suffered with my amblyopia until l moved to Madrid and found a new optometrist.This optometrist told me about the possibility of an optometric vision therapy program to improve my vision.
我一直饱受弱视的折磨，直到搬到马德里后，找到一位新医生。他告诉我，视觉训练应该会对我的病情有帮助。
Sooner than I expected I began to see better; everything in the world became brighter, deeper, and more defined. Now I can perceive when things are far or near without any difficulty. In the past,l saw the world without depth like in a photograph, now I see in 3D, and I enjoy going to see 3D movies. It's amazing!
很快，我的视力就有改善，比我想象快很多。眼前的世界变得明亮、深远、条理分明。现在，看远、看近都很清楚。而过去，我眼前的世界，就像一张照片，没有深度。现在我能看出立体效果，我喜欢看3D电影，太神奇了！
Now that I have good vision and see in 3D,l cannot understand why doctors say that it is impossible to cure amblyopia as an adult; I am proof that it is simply not true.
我的视力已经正常，立体视也没有问题。我非常不理解，为什么有的医生说，成年后弱视就不能治愈，我自己不就是证明吗！

OPTOMETRIC DATA AND OPTOMETRIST’S COMMENTS
Carolina came to our office just to get new contact lenses. During our evaluation we found high myopia, a deep amblyopia with 10 diopters of difference between her eyes, and a micro strabismus. Carolina’s best visual acuity in her amblyopic eye was 20/200, and she had no stereopsis. As a child, Carolina occluded an eye with a patch for many years without success. We suggested that she try a program of optometric vision therapy without needing to do any patching at all.Carolina decided to try, even though she was told by other doctors that with her age there was no possibility of recovering her vision.
卡罗莱纳第一次来中心，是因为要更换隐形眼镜。经过检查，发现她患有高度近视和重度弱视，两眼相差1000度，有轻微斜视，弱视眼视力0.1，没有立体视。在儿童时期曾进行过长期遮盖，没有改善。我建议进行视觉训练，无需遮盖。尽管之前有医生告诉卡罗莱纳，她年龄太大，弱视已无法治愈，不过她决定尝试。
治疗方案
OPTOMETRIC TREATMENT:
-Gas permeable contact lenses
-Bifocal lenses over the contact lenses for near work
-Syntonic phototherapy
-Optometric vision therapy
-透气性角膜接触镜
-看近时佩戴双光镜
-色光疗法
-视觉训练
We changed the type of contact lenses from soft to gas permeable. We also prescribed a bifocal to wear over the contact lenses to improve Carolina’s visual performance when she was working at near. We started Carolina’s vision therapy program with syntonics and afterwards, we continued with optometric vision therapy procedures for 6 months consisting of one office visit each week and 20 minutes of home therapy procedures every day.
我把她的软性隐形眼镜，换成了透气性角膜接触镜。为了方便她工作时看近处，我让她在佩戴透气性角膜接触镜的基础上，佩戴双光镜。然后，给她安排了视觉训练，训练共6个月，每周来中心训练1次，在家每天训练20分钟。
The final results are amazing. Carolina’s final visual acuity is 20/20. In additional, she is now using her eyes together all the time, and she has developed good stereopsis. All of Carolina’s visual symptoms have disappeared,and her performance and happiness in life have improved a lot. For sure, there is no upper age limit to successfully curing amblyopia!
治疗效果很理想，视力提高到了1.0，双眼可以正常协同工作，立体视正常。之前所有症状消失，幸福感大幅提升。毫无疑问，弱视治疗没有年龄上限。
