Today I would like to introduce you to Cunt Grinder, a cruel death metal band from Germany. It was formed by guitarist Hippi in 1995. However, the band did not release the work immediately, because of the band lineup issue, they did not release the first demo work until 1999. Although the recording effect of this work was not very good, even this did not cover up the band’s "light". It was not until 2000 that the band released the first official album "...the Day of Judgement" after the band was widely used. This album is still a continuation of Demo's work, but it is obvious that some changes have taken place in the band. The bass part of bass has been strengthened in this album, giving people a sense of horror. This work by Cunt Grinder gives People left two more prominent impressions. First of all, the metal, even rock and roll taste of music is more intense, and the overall sense of neatness of the music is more prominent. There are even some songs with a funny taste. This album is also the most representative album. In 2002, the band released the second official album "Escaped from Madhouse". This album can be said to be the most exciting of Cunt Grinder. This album has the same super sense of weight as the band’s previous work "The Day of Judgement", and it’s just as appropriate to describe it as "rude and heavy." At the same time, as the quality of the recording improves With the improvement, the clarity and layering of the music also have a stronger performance, and the taste of the metal music of the song has suddenly become prominent. The bass singing resembling the roar of a beast, or the violent guttural singing, has reached a limit effect on the word "heavy". It can be said that even in the world, there is almost no savage and heavy singing like Cunt Grinder; the band’s Guitar and bass playing are also powerfully creating a heavy-duty atmosphere. The sturdy and powerful cutting technique is played to the extreme, and the bass Riff has a suffocating sense of horror. The band’s full-fledged performance technique of the heavy music, the slow rhythm still occupies an absolute proportion in this work, and then the band also released some albums that still maintained a super high level of performance, and the band from 1999 to 2006 all The albums were released independently without any label, which also caused the band’s early albums to become precious collections of fans. In 2018, Mexico’s Gore Cannibal Records released their fifth official album "The (S) )Hitlist-News from the Gutter", in fact, this is a compilation work. The band released this album by adding some unreleased songs to some newly created songs. In August 2021, the band began to record their latest work. This is something that all fans look forward to very much. Not long ago I contacted the band’s founder guitarist Hippi. He told me that Cunt Grinder rarely accepts interviews. Hi Hippi, I am very happy to meet you and thank you very much for participating in this interview. I think this is the first time you have accepted an interview from a Chinese magazine. You may not know that you have fans of your band in faraway China. The cuntgrinder band was founded in 1995 and is a very experienced and veteran band. So who proposed to form this band in the first place?

Hello！Yes, I'm looking forward to it too. Interviews are basically not our thing. But every now and then we are willing to do so. As you can see. It is the first time that I/we participate in an interview with a Chinese magazine. The formation of the band CUNTGRINDER was my idea. We know that we have fans all over the world. We also think that our music has long reached China. But I don't know how popular deathmetal or grindcore is in China. The media in our country sometimes reports about very bizarre governmental measures to monitor or discipline the Chinese population. But Asia is Asia and Europe is Europe. It would be conceivable for me that Grindcore or Goregrind with its partly violence glorifying and abnormal text contents, could fall victim to a censorship in China. The whole thing is comparable to the censorship of horror films. In the past it was unimaginable, but today it is normal that zombie movies are broadcasted on mainstream TV. It is difficult to assess how extreme art is dealt with in China. In general I can't give any estimation about the existence or the size of a deathmetal / grindcore scene in China. Of course we are happy if there are CUNTGRINDER fans even in countries like China. And let's say, if everyone(!!!) in China buys a CUNTGRINDER CD we are rich.

Your band has always maintained the original lineup. I think it will be convenient for you to create your own songs, because you know each other very well and know what kind of music each other wants, so how often do you practice together?

We started in 1997 with four members. From the original line-up there are still 2 members. Our singer and me (guitar). The first line-up change took place in 1998. A new bass player came. The second line-up change took place in 1999. There was a drummer change. 2000 there was the next drummer change. In 2001 there was another drummer change . In 2001 our bass player became the second guitar player. A new bass player was hired, who also sang part of the band. In 2006 he left the band and an old buddy played bass guitar from now on. We all knew each other before joining the band. What is worth mentioning in my opinion. In general, there is democracy within the band. Everything is voted on. Everyone participates in songwriting. We are all very critical. Nevertheless, I don't want to call our music level. From a musical point of view, our plan was to create cool grooves and to hit the ground running in between. We tried to realize this concept from the beginning. Let's put it this way, everyone always hit the ground running. We were partly bad, but hard. That counts! The hardest thing we managed to do is on our CDs. We have been rehearsing only once a week for quite a while, which is very little. But we work continuously.

E: 你们的专家在哪个工作室录制的？ 你的混合作品是谁做的？

Which studio did your experts record in? Who made your mixed works?

We were recording in different recording studios during our time. That's how it turned out. There have been studio changes for a variety of reasons. For us it was always important that a recording studio was not too far away from our hometown. We also always wanted to record cheaply. We keep the recording studio where our part for the split CD "THE SEXORCIST TAPES" was recorded.

E: 你们乐队的标志和专辑封面很独特，尤其是你的专辑封面很有特色。哪位设计师为您创作了这些艺术作品？

Your band’s logo and album artwork are very unique, especially your album artwork is very distinctive. So which designer designed these artwork for you?

I don't know if you're talking about a specific cover artwork or if you mean all of them. Since many band logos from the grindcore genre were already known in 1997, of course something like this had to be done. Already in the middle of the 90s the bar was high in this respect. With CUNTGRINDER we found a suitable band name quite fast. Our logo is my work. It came into being with the beginning of our band work. The development process of the logo took a few weeks. I think it turned out quite well. The logo is pure drawing work. You can see it. Even in 2021, our logo can still hold its own with many logos created later. The choice of the covers of "ONLY ONE FACE OF REALITY" and "DAY OF JUDGEMENT" was made after consultation within the band and in disregard of copyrights. We didn't care, we just wanted to be extreme in every way. We did the re-releases of these two albums with different covers because of these very copyright violations. At some point these Reality Snuff covers seemed too boring and tasteless and so we decided to use cartoon-like covers for " ESCAPED FROM MADHOUSE" and "FUNNY GAMES". Between " ESCAPED FROM MADHOUSE" and "FUNNY GAMES" we released "REIGN IS CONTINUED", on whose cover I simply improved(!!!) SLAYERS "REIGN IN BLOOD". The split "3-way Penetration" (with SxRxOxMx and Hymen Holocaust) came out with 2 different covers. In Canada the CD was released with cartoon cover. It was followed by 2 more splits (One with RECTAL SMEGMA and one with CUNTEMONIUM) and the "THE(S)HITLIST... News From The Gutter". To this day, I strive to make our releases stand out. The only cover for which I am basically not responsible as layouter is the one of the split "THE SEXORCIST TAPES". This was created by Fabian S. from the band SxRxOxMx and co-owner of LOW B Production.

E: Your music themes are about Gore, Sex, Violence. These themes are easy to see in the grindcore band. So what do you want to express through these music themes? Does your song have lyrics? Who created these lyrics?

H: Of course we use real lyrics. Every song needs lyrics, whether stupid, disgusting, glorifying violence, sick or funny. Now the riddle of the week: Who writes the lyrics for CUNTGRINDER? You can win a dirty sock!.....haha What do we want to express with our lyrics? Nothing! We just wanted to be extreme and also funny from the beginning. The lyrics just kind of come up and if they're not extreme, stupid or funny enough, they're tinkered with until they fit. We were always amused when we were criticized especially because of our woman-critical, or rather: sexist, misogynistic, violence-glorifying lyrics.

E: Your first demo work was released in 1999. Why did you choose to release your first demo work after 4 years? After you released the album "The Sexorcist Tapes" in 2010, you didn't release your latest work until 2015. So what happened to the band in these 5 years that caused the band to have no new works for a long time?

H: It is a misinformation that we exist since 1995. We started to go crazy at the end of 1997. Our first demo was released around May 1999.

By now we have all become billionaires through our band work. After all, we had to blow the money we made with the band. But all joking aside.... In between, there were simply creative breaks. Lack of time was also a reason. We also played live from time to time. Were actually somehow always active. By the way, we started recording our next album in August 2021.

Viele deiner Werke werden von dir selbst veröffentlicht, und nur wenige deiner Werke werden unter einem regulären Label veröffentlicht, also warum entscheidest du dich nicht, das Album unter einem regulären Label zu veröffentlichen, wie Gore Cannibal Records, Rotten Roll Rex? , Rottenpyosis Records, Kult Rock, etc. Ich habe Alben für euch veröffentlicht, wie seid ihr also mit diesen Labels in Kontakt gekommen, um zusammenzuarbeiten? Welches dieser Labels ist Ihrer Meinung nach für Sie am befriedigendsten?

We recorded our demo in the beginning, went to the pressing plant and then just sold our demo CD ourselves. From the beginning we had a fan base. We are incredibly proud of that. The first label release with us is the split CD "3-Way Penetration". It was released in Germany through ROTTEN ROLL REX and in Canada through CDN Records. I don't even remember how it came about. With "THE SEXORCIST TAPES" we decided from the beginning to run it through 2 labels. The label in Germany LOW B was fixed from the beginning, another label was found with ROTTENPYOSIS RECORDS in Taiwan. In general, a label search is simple. You have the product and simply offer it to the labels. The only important thing for us was that the second label should be as far away from Europe as possible. Only in this way can the other hemisphere be optimally supplied with our CDs. We have never been disappointed by any label we have signed a deal with. That is what counts for us. Nothing else. That's why I don't want to emphasize any label positively or negatively.

E: First of all, congratulations on the release of your latest album "The (S) Hitlist-News from the Gutter" in 2018. You are the most rude, heavy, bloody and bloody grind album I have ever heard in Germany. The completion can become an epoch-making, Great German-style color mill/blood mill work. The clear and heavy timbre of the German bands' works is the most perfect expression in your band. Even compared with the albums of some big-name death bands in Germany, your works are super bright and clear. H: We are very happy that you like this album, because it is actually a kind of compilation. It was supposed to be released in Mexico by GORE CANNIBAL RECORDS from the beginning. It was planned as a CUNTGRINDER - Best-of. But we thought that this album would not be interesting for Europeans, because all our albums are available there. That's why we collected all unreleased song material and song versions and created a few new songs. Then we made the whole thing coherent in the recording studio.... And finished was THE (s)HITLIST The concept of CUNTGRINDER will not change. We are calibrated to what we do and how we do it. And we will do that until we stop. But we will not stop.
