COVID-19has completely changed the way people are used tolive, whichalso dealt a heavy blow to the art industry.According to "The Art Newspaper", by March 2021, the number of visitors to the world's top 100 art museums has fallen by 77%. Even museums that are allowed to open have tolimit the number of visitors, leaving alonesome private galleries thatare difficult to maintainduring the pandemic.
In previous articlesabout Coantivirus, we mainly focused on artworksthe creator submitted, and find directlythe impact of the epidemic on artthroughtheir expression of art fromtheirperceptionaboutand the pandemic and their lives. But we suddenly realized that we 'd also get to the medium of street art. Therefore, today we are going totalk about street art under the epidemic.

The street art is created, showed and viewedin the street, sowhenthink about it at first timewe take it granted thatthe street art during the pandemic timeis hard to sustaindue to the quarantineand restrictions on travel.
But whenwe browse the influences on the street art during pandemic, we easily see many items about how pandemic inspired street art. Thatalso inspiresus to think allagain.

Then how pandemic inspired street art?
When the hustle and bustle that belongs to the street is gone due to the virus, it seems that the world is about to end and we suddenly feel at full lost and isolated. But on the other way, maybe the empty street is a new “canvas”world for street artists. Without more restrictions and dogmaabout the public space, the creation on “canvas”is perfectlyfree.
Also, the cold and empty public space needs colors and vibrancy in such a pandemictime
So, street art why not?

It is not only the artist needs the street, also the street need the artist.
What’s more, the city and the society need art and artist to be the mirrorand power in the time.
Art offers the people the channel to express themselves and lives, and at the same time the biggest charm brought by art is theresonanceamong people via personal art expression. Therefore, the social powers the art has canand should voluntarily get involved in the widespread discussion about the societywhen necessary.
This is especially true for street art.
The global epidemic urgently needs society to be organically united from top to bottom to resist.
Street artthen is more like transformed slogans, warnings, and such kind of forces so as to spontaneously uniteeveryone.

Artist Corie Mattie painted a lot of graffiti during the pandemic to uplift people’s awarenessof the epidemic. She had never thought of becoming a street artist, but because of herstreet art during the pandemicwas spread wildly on social media.
One can seethe importance of street art during the pandemicbecause itcan respond quickly in times of crisis. Due toits fragile and perishable characteristics, it can make a short-lived, quickand direct responseso to promote political dialogue at close rangeand reach a wide audience.During the pandemic time when international conflicts are acute, political situations turbulent, and people's livelihoods fierce, street art came out of the street.Artists want to actively participate and have a sayin such historical times, which brings a growth of street art in some way.

The street, the public space becomes so precious in this quarantinemoment and so connectedto every individual.
We are looking forward to the hustleand bustle like it used to be, and are glad to see thestreet art isflourishingas if the culture and art is still vibrating on the streets.
At the same time, the world under the threatofthe epidemic requires everyone with a common belief to resolve loneliness, to resist the changes broughtby the epidemic, tolookdeep intothe problemsexposedby the pandemic, to contemplateand discuss.
Although the body is isolated, the belief is not separated, which may makes street art more important.

LOVE - We’re in This Together

Though the epidemic has not completelycome to anendall over the world, lifenow has almost entered a normal trackin China. In the post-epidemic era, culture and art have been so profoundly affected and are undergoing changes. But we still hope that culture and art will not only be theconveyorof common beliefsbut thepower of civilizationthatwill continue to shine for the coming future.
