Living condition for poor people in 20C was very bad. House crowded closely together since there was no regulation and the vast majority of people needed to use coal for the fires which in turn contributed a great deal of the air pollution. In addition, a tiny, damp, and unhealthy house alway had to be crowded by serveral families.
