The Lifestyle

The real evils, indeed, of Emma’s situation were the power of having rather too much her own way, and a disposition to think a little too well of herself; these were the disadvantages which threatened alloy to her many enjoyments."
1. She wanted to be her most authentic, messiest self for the man who’d always given that to her in return(总会有个人让你觉得在他面前可以无所顾忌地疯闹、冒险、乱糟糟)
2.When their bodies were spent, they lay beside each other on the bare mattress, the bedding having fallen to the floor. Her hand rested on his stomach, his draped across her leg, their chests wrung out and panting. The city was alive below; they were alive inside. Breathless, but alive.(事后状态啧啧可以的...)
3.The lifestyle helped everyone differently. For Felix, it had been a catalyst. For Ari, a wake-up call. For Norah, a sexual liberation.(强行归纳总结,命题作文一样,太倒胃口了./)
4.And named plaintiffs were supposed to be adequate representatives of all the other plaintiffs in the class, the ones who didn’t go to court but would get money from a settlement. But if the named plaintiffs were cousins, they had a unique set of facts that didn’t apply to everyone. Georgina would easily win a motion to oppose this case as a class action, so instead of hundreds of plaintiffs, there would be two, and instead of tens of millions in damages, the figure would be small.(小知识点:如何oppose一个集体诉讼...)
5.Under the cover of their pedestrian interaction, they looked at each other, and the room stilled. Some amount of time passed, but she couldn’t say how long. Eventually, as if someone had turned up the volume, the soundtrack of a hundred people having dinner returned, and she forced her eyes away with the difficulty of hauling a tree right out of the ground.*很多当代小说都有这个特点,文字有电影画面感...)
6.Her life was a beautiful glass ornament hanging by a thread, and somewhere scissors waited.(完美生活的不安感?
