Alt-Rock, Art and Politics - Kurt Cobain's Journal 另类摇滚，艺术与政治 -- 柯本的日记

小升初那一年可以说是我个人审美之下的第一个音乐转折 - 从华语的台湾偶像剧主题曲到Avril Lavigne的个人首专主打Complicated。另类摇滚 (alt-rock/alternative rock) 的魅力就于，你一但进门就不可能再想要离开，并且那些为爱情轰轰烈烈的流行歌再也无法打动你。

十来岁第一次听到涅槃乐队这个名字的时候就觉得很特别，但对歌无感。他们也属于另类摇滚这个大分支，但同时还混合了其他风格比如颓废摇滚 (grunge), 朋克摇滚 (punk rock, 在后文的日记中也有提到，算是柯本的最爱了吧), 硬核摇滚 (hard rock) 和Avril的流行摇滚 (pop rock) 还不太一样。回头看，12岁的我还在被生活蹂躏的起步阶段，无法欣赏涅槃也是可以理解了。

前几周的某个周末闲在家，不小心掉进了柯本这个兔子洞。囫囵吞枣的看完了他的传记和生前的采访影片片段之后，从美亚上买来了他生前日记本的二手官方印刷版。他的日记和他写的歌一样迷人，你不可能不被他曾经写下的文字影响。卡佛（Raymond Carver）曾在巴黎评论的采访中说艺术对他影响是一种人生发生了改变的感觉。

以下选自我最喜欢的两页内容作简陋翻译，欢迎指正。（ ps.无法一次翻完，坑会补上的！）

I’ve been told that an artist is in need of cost and tragedy to fully expressed their work, but I’m not an artist and when I say I in a song that doesn’t necessarily mean that person is me. And it doesn’t mean I’m just a storyteller, it means whoever or whatever you want because everyone has their own definition of specific words and when you’re dealing in the context of music you can’t expect words to have the same meaning as in everyday use of our vocabulary because I consider music art and when I say "that song is art" I don’t mean in comparison to a painting because I feel the visual arts are not nearly as sacred as the transcribed or audio communications, but it is art and somewhere I feel this society has lost its sense of what art is, art is expression. In expression you need 100% full freedom and our freedom to express our art is seriously being fucked with. Fuck, the word fuck has as many connotations as does the word art and far beyond the point of sitting down and casually complaining about this problem to the right wind control freaks who are the main offender of destroying

我听说艺术家需要悲剧和牺牲来完整表达他们的作品，但我不觉得我是个艺术家。当我在歌里写“我”的时候，不一定是指我本人，也不意味着我就只是个讲故事的人。

Art. I won’t calmly and literally complain to you! I’m going to fucking kill. I’m going to fucking destroy your macho, sadistic, sick, right wing, religiously abusive opinions on how we as a whole should operate according to your conditions. Thanks for the tragedy I need it for my art. Punk rock is art. Punk rock to me means freedom. The only problem I’ve had with the situationists' punk rock ethic is that absolute denial of anything sacred. I find a few things sacred such as the superior woman and the Negro wave contributed to art. I guess what I’m saying is that art is sacred. Punk rock is freedom. Expression and right to express is vital. Anyone can be artistic.

Art is sacred. 艺术是神圣的。

Punk rock is freedom. 朋克摇滚是自由。

Expression and right to express is vital. 表达和表达的权利很重要。

Anyone can be artistic.任何人都可以是艺术家。
