简单测试了下DeepL Write / ChatGPT改写句子

看到DeepL Write beta版今天出来，试了下把自己之前workshop写的草稿里的一句话放进去:

• "These were the steps his driving coach told him years ago; despite becoming a self-claimed skilled driver, he still recited these lines involuntarily, especially when he was with himself."

DeepL revised verion:

• "These were the steps his driving instructor had taught him years ago; despite becoming a self-proclaimed expert driver, he still found himself involuntarily reciting these lines, especially when he was alone."

又试了几句话, 一些用词的替换对于非母语写作者还是挺友好的: e.g., "fill the balloon with air" -> "inflate the balloon"; "sleepiness" -> "drowsiness"。同时也顺便测试了下ChatGPT:

• "His driving coach had told him these steps years ago, and even though he considered himself a skilled driver, he still recited them involuntarily, particularly when driving alone. (instruct ChatGPT to just "revise")
• Years ago, his driving coach imparted upon him a set of steps, ingrained in his mind. Despite his self-proclaimed mastery behind the wheel, they still echoed in his thoughts unbidden, particularly in the solitude of his own company. (instruct ChatGPT to revise in a "literary" approach)

因为可以给ChatGPT指令，所以可以玩得更灵活: 比如让它revise in the style of “Chandler“ or “Cheever":

• "...he thought he was a hotshot behind the wheel now, but those steps still stuck in his mind, especially when he was out on the road alone, driving through the night." (Chandler)
• "...that still lingered in his mind...they resurfaced involuntarily, a haunting presence, particularly when he found himself alone on the suburban roads, amidst the manicured lawns and tidy houses" (Cheever)

一些用词有特殊替换 (e.g., hotshot), 不过主要还是加了环境意象 (e.g., suburban, lawns, etc.), 句子层面改动不大。但是有些style改写会更大:

• "Eons ago, his driving coach had whispered arcane steps to him, and though he deemed himself a master behind the wheel, the incantations still echoed within his mind, involuntarily summoned, particularly when he ventured alone into the abyssal reaches of the night-clad roads." (Lovecraft)
• "In ages past, his driving coach had imparted upon him a set of steps, etched in his mind. Though he deemed himself a skilled driver of renown, the words still came to him unbidden, especially when he was alone on the winding roads, traversing through the lands unknown." (Tolkien)

目前ChatGPT主要是句子层面的改写，但我猜通过一些hiearchical modeling (e.g., 类似 DOC: Improving Long Story Coherence With Detailed Outline Control 的改进) 或者加memory mechanism 在plot层面更加stylist的改写也是可以做到的。我更期待的是作曲方面的应用, 比如给一个小的motivation, 预测Chopin/Bach/Liszt的版本。不知道现有谱子的数据量够不够fine-tune模型, 理论上现有模型直接搬过来就可以做到; 可能有些工作已经实现了, 有空找一找看
