Oceania is a collective name for over 1000 scattered islands throughout most of the Pacific Ocean, in its widest sense, it embraces the entire realm between Asian and the Americas; in its common usage, it refers to the four regions: Australasia大洋洲 (Australia and New Zealand), Melanesia美拉尼西亚, Micronesia密克罗尼西亚, and Polynesia波利尼西亚, where Australia is the largest landmass on the continent of Australia. In Oceania, the indigenous population occupies for 20%, and the European descent takes 70%.
For its physical geography, Oceania can be divided into three island groups: continental islands, high islands and low islands, for which are formed in different ways and made up of different materials.
