129 DOCTOR FELL 费尔博士

I do not like thee, Doctor Fell; 我不喜爱，费尔博士; The reason why I cannot tell; 理由缘故，我也不知; But this I know, and know full well, 我只知道，清楚明白， I do not like thee, Doctor Fell! 费尔博士，我不喜爱。

Notes: This rhyme was written by Tom Brown, an English poet. When Tom was a university student, he got into trouble with the Dean, Dr. John Fell. Dr. Fell was very angry and wanted to make Tom leave the university forever. Dr. Fell said if Tom could translate a Latin poem into English correctly, he could stay at the university. Tom’s perfect translation was: I don’t like you, Sabidius and I can’t say why; all I can say is I don’t like you. Tom stayed at school. He wrote this rhyme about the dean, Dr. Fell, to copy the translation. 注：这首韵诗由英国诗人汤姆·布朗（Tom Brown）创作。当汤姆还是一名大学生时，他与院长约翰·费尔博士有了争执。费尔博士非常生气，想让汤姆永远离开大学。费尔博士说，如果汤姆能把一首拉丁语诗正确地翻译成英文，他就可以留在这所大学。汤姆做出了完美的翻译：我不喜欢你，萨比迪乌斯，我也说不出是为什么;我能说的就只有，不喜欢你。汤姆于是留了下来，写了这首复制于译文的关于院长费尔博士的韵文。

Notes: This is a counting out rhyme. Most of the words are not English words. Children need a way to pick who is going first when playing some games. All children will stand in a circle and one person will say this rhyme. “If I should give my fiddle, “如果我给出小提琴， They’ll think that I’ve gone mad; 人们会以为我疯了; For many a joyous day 和我的小提琴在一起 My fiddle and I have had.” 快活日子不老少”。

Notes: In this rhyme someone asks Jack (Jacky) to give his violin (fiddle) away. Jack says no he will never do that. Jack says he loves his fiddle and has had many happy (joyous) times playing it. Jack says people will think he is crazy (gone mad) if he gives his fiddle to someone. 注：在这首韵诗中，有人要求杰克（昵称杰基）把他的小提琴（fiddle）送出去。杰克说不，他永远不会那样做。杰克说他喜欢他的小提琴，并且有很多快乐（joyous）的演奏时光。杰克说，如果他把小提琴交给别人，人们会认为他疯了（gone mad）。

Notes: In England many years ago, one job was to sell things to sew with. This man is selling buttons for money (farthing) for two (pair). 注：许多年前，在英国，有一份工作是卖缝纫材料。这个人正在卖纽扣换钱（一对纽扣）的钱是一法新（farthing）。 PS. 法新，farthing，1961年以前的英国铜币，等于1／4便士。

133 HOT BOILED BEANS 热煮豆

Ladies and gentlemen come to supper---- 女士们，先生们，来吃晚饭啦---- Hot boiled beans and very good butter. 有热腾腾的豆子还有好黄油。
