To name the title of a movie that has the most impact on me, that would definitely be “Jurassic Park”. First of all, the Video Compact Disk of JR is the first Hollywood movie I’ve ever owned. Back in the 1998, I knew nothing about the movies except those were shown on th TV-screen. Fortunately , the Literature Club , which I joined just for fun, organised us to see a Hollywood movie in theatre. That movie is “The Lost World”, the sequel de “Jurassic Park”. That is the first time in my life to see a real Sci-Fi/Hollywood/Hits movie in the theatre, I can still recall theexcitementvividly.
During the following weeks , my head is filled with the clips of that movie. So when I saw the videos of “The Lost World”and its episode “Jurassic Park ”, I bought them with 32 yuan (RMB). I went home and watched “Jurassic Park”, then the magic spell began. I totally loved the movie. Somemay describe “Jurassic Park” as a “Thriller” Sci-fi,which dinosaurs eat men.To me, JR means much more, it changed my youth:
1.I admire the leading role Dr.Grant/Sam Neil and Dr.Sally/Laura Dern since then, I watched “PIANO”just for Sam.
2.I admire the director Steven Spielberg ever since. I almost saw every films he filmed. I bought “Indiana Jones 123” , and foundthemreally entertaining. Spielberg is the director that lead me into the world de movies. I even bought a biography of his.
3.I admire the writer Michaele Crichton from then on. I searched eagerly for the original novel of “Jurassic Park”, but I found nothing but the book of “The Lost World”. I read it over and over again, I read a few pages every night before sleep, can’t wait to know what’ll happen next yet fearing to face the end. I then bought some other books written by M.C.,such as “Congo”and “Sphere”.They are all good,but not as good as JR and TLW.
4.I admire the composer John Williams after seeing the film. I rewatched the movie THOUSANDS of times , partly because I just love the music he composed. The score “Entering the park”is powerful like a symphony, the score “Tree House” is soft as a nocturne.
As for the dinosaurs,it’s hard for me to explain why dinosaurs, the raptor spieces died out mollions years ago, would attract me so much. Yet there is an explaination made by M.C. in the book of JR: To the Kids,Dinosaurs are(were) gigantic, powerful, mystery, they are the symbol of an unknown power. So the kids kind of fear of them(dinos), yet kind of love them.
Jurassic Utopia, My Wildest Dream then was “Back to the Jurassic”: go back with my friends , to the eras when dinosaurs ruled the earth, we’ll live in the Hi-tech Basement, doing our research on dinosaurs. I even draw plenty of designs of the “Research Room”.
That is the first time,a movie makes me dream, makes me want to live in a whole new fantasy world. Even today, I still wish to hide myself away from the real human world and live with the people I love in this “Jurassic Utopia”, that is my NEVERLAND.
